January 1st,  2AM ~ Harry's POV

I didn't get much sleep last night because we had to be early but then I realised..

"LOU!!" I shouted

"Yeah?"

"HAPPY NEW YEARS" I screamed, jumping out of bed.

It was 2009. Time flew by really fast, it felt like yesterday it was just 2008.

Oh wait, it was.

We had to catch the plane back in about 3 hours so we quickly got ready and packed everything, making sure nothing was left behind because usually I was terrified of leaving things behind and checked the whole hotel room at least 3 times before leaving.

"Got everything?" I asked, zipping up my suitcase.

"I think so" Louis replied, stuffing some tinsel in his second suitcase. I can't believe he actually packed Christmas decorations, he was such an idiot. But that's why I love him.

As soon as we packed up it was time to leave sadly, we grabbed our suitcases and wheeled them out to the hotel, saying goodbye to the workers there on our way out.

It was still really dark outside because it was 2 in the morning, at one point I had to use my phone as a flashlight and instead of walking we just decided to get a taxi to the airport.

Soon enough, we were boarding the plane.

Louis' POV

I really didn't want to leave, but I eventually sat down on the seat of the plane and looked outside, not even taking any notice of Harry because I was trying to admire the country before we left for good. Well, not for good, because hopefully we will return here one day.

I could feel him lean against my shoulder, probably really tired from getting up so early so I just let him sleep there. I don't know how my shoulder was comfortable though.

As we lifted off, I gave one last glance to the city below us and soon we were up in the sky, Wellington no longer in sight.

And the 20-hour plane ride began.

Louis: On our way home now, just left the airport, see you soon mum❤️

Louis' mother: See you soon darling! :)

I put my phone down and fell asleep with Harry laying on me.

10am ~ Harry's POV
I slowly opened my eyes and poked my head up, realising we were still on the plane.

"Hey Lou, what time is it?" I asked, but he was still sleeping so I just pulled my phone out and checked myself.

10am. Great, we still had hours left, and Louis was asleep so I had nobody to talk to.

Well, actually, I did have a few people to talk to.

Harry: Hey guys, currently on the plane board, hows everyone doing? -H x

Niall: Harry, why do you keep putting -H at the end of your messages? And I'm doing good, thanks mate😎

Eleanor: Hey guys, hey Harry, how was the trip?

Harry: it was great.

Harry: I don't know Niall, its a habit I guess. -H

I purposely put '-H' at the end to annoy Niall because I know he hates it when I do that.

Niall: Well, when you gonna be home?

Harry: About 11pm. We probably won't get to see eachother until tomorrow :(

Niall: Oh. How about we play a game?

Harry: sure, what game?

Niall: kiss, marry, kill 😏

Eleanor: ooo count me in!😏

Harry: okay, fine, you go first.

A while after playing stupid games with Niall and Eleanor, I saw louis finally waking up so I shut my phone off to pay attention to him instead.

"Morning Lou" I said, patting his head like a dog and smiling at him.

"Morning" he mumbled, still half asleep.

10:45pm ~ Louis' POV

We were landing soon, I felt quite sick after the long journey but it seemed more fun than the trip here. Maybe because Harry wasn't asleep so I actually got to communicate with someone other than Niall, Eleanor and my parents.

As soon as we landed, me and Harry had to say goodbye to each other and went to our separate houses.

Well, separate houses for now, I thought to myself.

"I don't wanna leave you!!" I complained, hugging Harry tightly and almost crying into his chest.

"We've been together the whole week in Wellington, I'm sure a few hours apart won't be too bad" he comforted me, kissing my forehead then heading to his house. "See you tomorrow!"

Weirdly, my parents weren't answering my calls so I guess I had to walk home from the airport. The walk wasn't too long, but still longer than what I'm used to so it would probably make my legs ache afterwards.

I arrived at my street, and there were fire engines, police and ambulances outside which I found even more strange. Maybe it was nothing, or just another household but surely it couldn't have been anything to do with my house.

I walked up to my house, looking down to my phone because I was trying to get hold of my mum. Usually she replies straight away, so something was definitely off.

I also smelled something weird, it got stronger as I got closer to my house.

I looked up from my phone, about to walk inside when I was stopped by one of the police.

Then I realised what the smell was.

Fire.
