Today was Jordan's baseball game. All the boys were going to be there. I quickly got ready and headed towards the park.
"Hey Aya." Jordan said, greeting me by the gate of the baseball field.
"Hey. Who are you guys playing?" I responded.
"We're laying this team that is close with the school. I know some of the boys there."
"Oh okay, cool."
I had arrived at the park about an hour before the game, so I wandered around with the rest of the boys as Jordan and his team prepared. Jaya wasn't here for the game. He said that he had to take care of his brothers or something. I didn't really care. There was a lady by the playground selling corn on the cob, so we all bought one and headed towards the field.
The game started out slow at first, but around the 5th inning, it got intense. Jordan's team was losing by 2 runs, and the team began to get cocky. Especially this kid named Miguel.
After Jordan hit a strike, Miguel laughed loudly on the sidelines.
"Ha, that nigga can't even swing correctly." he said loudly.
At first, Jordan tried to ignore him, but as the game progressed, you could tell he began to get aggravated. He hadn't said anything until Miguel said this.
"And this dumbass thought he was good at this. My little sister knows how to catch a ball better than that."
Jordan knew who Miguel was, because he had mentioned him before, but it seemed as if he was tired of him so he fired back.
"Bro shut the fuck up, you have a big mouth for someone who's been benched all game."
"You right, I have, and somehow I've contributed more to the game than you have this whole season." mumbled back Miguel.
"Say it to my face then." replied Jordan. At this point the whole field had stopped playing and everyone was silent.
"I'll gladly say it to your face, the same way Camila broke up with yo annoying ass."
That seemed to be the last straw for Jordan, because after that statement, he walked over to Miguel and started throwing swings. Both teams came at each other yelling, throwing punches and swinging bats at each other. The boys and I looked at each other and ran onto the field, trying to separate Jordan and Miguel. The coaches ended up getting involved, dragging both teams to opposite sides of the fields. The coaches told everyone to leave. The boys and I walked off the field in silence, listening to the coaches scream at the boys. We got to my house first, and I said bye, walking in in silence.
About two hours later, I got a knock at my door. It was Jordan. He had a black eye, tears threatening to come out, and bruised knuckles. He headed straight up stairs, and when we got to my room I embraced him in a hug.
"I don't get it." he said, his voice cracking. "Why would she just break up with me."
At this point he had no control over himself, weakening his grip and plopping onto the ground. I didn't want to tell him about the conversation I had with Camila, so I had to find a way to imply what she said.
"Um, well you said that she told you that she cared about you, which is why she broke up with you right?" he nodded. "So it was probably her fault."
"What do you mean?"he asked, confused.
"She might have cheated or lost feelings, but she didn't want to hurt you in the process you know?"
"I guess." His breathing started to slow down, but he was still shaking. I got up and went into my closet to pull out one of my oversized hoodies. It was a simple blue hoodie, with a red heart on the front. I gave it to him, and he immediately put it on. While he put it on, I noticed messages on my phone.

Just like he said, there was a knock at my door 5 minutes later. He came in rushing and gave me a hug. He immediately headed upstairs.
"Hey man, you good?" Jaya asked Jordan.
"Yea." Jordan said quietly.
They gave each other a quick hug and Jaya sat on the floor next to us. Jordan told us to change the subject, so he talked about the football season.
"Coach is pressed cause some of the boys don't have they shit together." Jaya said, amused.
"Sounds like the boys on the other team." replied Jordan
"Facts. What even happened." Jaya asked in return.
"You know how Miguel is. He been talking mad shit recently. It's a game. Why he gotta be so disrespectful."
"It's because he knows he trash."
We all laughed at this statement. The boys talked for about another hour. They left around 6:00, so I still had enough time to make dinner. My mom leaves for work tomorow, so I decided to cook, trying to give her a break. We all ate together for the first time in a while which was nice. Anthony talked about how excited he was for the summer time. It was barely spring and he was already excited. I'm not going to lie, I was too. After dinner, we hung out in the living room, watching re-runs of The Flash. Around 10:00 pm, I was getting ready to go to bed, when I got a text.
