I walked down the street, bag in one hand, phone in another. I had gotten hungry as I unpacked, so I went to the nearby corner store I saw as I was in the Uber. The orange leaves on the ground and the weak sun made the neighborhood seem peaceful, but it was far from that. I noticed that half of the neighborhood was nice, and the other half wasn't. Our new home ended up being right on the border of both. I wasn't new to bad neighborhoods, since it's where I grew up. Until I was 9, I lived in the South Bronx. At that time my mom struggled to find a job, while my dad walked in and out, wasting the only money we had. There weren't homes in the South Bronx either. Just one bedroom apartments, or projects. We were lucky enough to not live in the projects, but it still wasn't fun. Beer bottles left on the stair cases of buildings, loud music blasting from apartments, the smell of weed, and other unmentionable things. As I walked back, I noticed a group of boys, probably the age of 13, standing on the corner. They had something in their hands, all looking down. I tried my best to not look, and kept walking. I wasn't exactly in the nice part of the neighborhood, so I kept my head down and walked home, keeping to myself as much as I could.

I arrived home, put the keys on the counter in the kitchen, and headed to my room to continue unpacking. I had purchased a Dr. Pepper, some Doritos, two packs of sour patches, and a packet of Starbursts. I continued to unpack as I listened to "Infinity 888" by XXXtentacion and Joey Badass. I looked at the pile of clothes in front of me.Mostly basic things, but there were other things I didn't remember buying. I noticed a card from my mother. She obviously didn't leave that there now since she was out buying groceries. It was signed August 17. Today was August 31, meaning she bought this before we even moved. In the card, she apologized for having to move again, and explained how she purchased new clothing for me to wear. In her words "It was something to restart yourself for your new school."

School. I completely forgot that I was starting  a new school. The worst part was that it was senior year. I had to start all over again for my senior year. Who was going to want to be friends with me? The people there probably already established these relationships in freshman. Whatever, I'll figure it out. I smiled as I continued to unpack. By 5:00 pm, I had finished putting my clothes in my new closet, I picked an outfit for my first day, and I had even organized most of my drawers and supplies. The only thing I had to do was organize the things in my bathroom. This consisted of multiple body lotions, perfumes, body sprays, toothpaste, body washes, scrubs, conditioners, hair supplies and towels. I don't have a lot for my hair, just some brushes, a conditioner, shampoo, and gel. I had type 4 hair, so I usually did a lot of protective styles. I was a pretty lazy person. I went downstairs, where Anthony sat on the sofa.

"Is she home yet?" I said

"Nah, but she'll probably order dinner tonight." he responded.

" I call getting pizza."

"Bet. Wait, when does school start?"

"Tomorrow dumbass."

"No need to be fucking rude."

I started laughing at his statement. Today was Sunday, so we had school tomorrow. I was really nervous, but I wouldn't let him know that. He had an advantage that I didn't. He was starting his freshman year, so for him it wasn't that big of an issue. It would've been like any normal school.

I walked over to the kitchen and called my mom.

" Hello?"

"Hey mom, are you going to order food or should I order?"

"Hey baby, can you please order. I'll drop the money off and some groceries."

"Okay Mom. Love you.

"Love you too."

After ending the call, I ordered the pizza and waited for my mom to come home with the food. She arrived, dropping off money and a couple of groceries.  So, I unpacked the groceries and payed for the pizza that came right after. She quickly ate with us and then went back to shop for more home supplies. After eating, I washed the dishes, took a shower, put a face mask on, changed, took the face mask off, and by the time I was done it was 10:00 pm. After this, I said goodnight to everyone and went to bed.
