It was prom night and I was sitting with Chester and Talinda. I was not feeling myself anymore, the love of my life for 3 years was dating the school's slut and he had no idea that she was just taking advantage of him. God I wish Mike saw what I see in Anna, a total bitch who had been cheating on him for 2 years. "You okay, dear?" Chester asked, placing his hand on my shoulder. I wiped my tears and forced a smile. "You're not, we can see you're not" Talinda stated. I sighed and placed my head on her shoulder and she started stroking my hair. Chester took his hand in mine and rubbed my knuckles with his thumb. "It's alright" Chester whispered. I ignored him and continued to cry into Talinda's shoulder. Just then our principal talked into the mic.
"Would Y/N please come over? We'd love to hear your beautiful voice!" I sat up and looked at Chester and Talinda. They gave me a sympathetic look and group hugged me. "It's okay, ssh" Talinda said as she heard me sniffing. We pulled away and I forced another smile then walked onstage. The song started playing and I saw Mike asking Anna for a dance, Anna smiled falsely and agreed. I could see Anna was using Mike.
God why can't he see what she's doing to him?
I began singing into as I watched the boys and girls slow dance across the gym. Talinda and Chester smiled at me while they danced and I smiled softly back. Just then I had a vision, I was dancing with Mike in the gym. He had his hands on my waist and I had mine around his neck. He gave me a smile and started spinning me around then tilted me over. He looked deeply into my eyes and his finger traveled up my arm and he spun me again which made me dizzy, I almost fell but Mike caught me. He giggled and I smiled. Mike then turned me over and my back was against his chest, his arms around my waist and his head against mine and we swayed to the beat, Mike kissed my shoulder from behind then he spun me around again and this time, we were face to face. He cupped my cheeks and started leaning in, I leaned in to but then I came out of my day dream. Surprisingly I was still singing.
The song finished and everyone clapped for me. I smiled to say thank you then walked off the stage. Talinda and Chester came up to me. "Your voice was beautiful, Y/N!" Talinda smiled. "Absolutely beautiful!" Chester grinned. "Thanks guys" I blushed. Just then I saw Mike and Anna leave the gym which caused me to sigh.
How I wish Mike was mine but he's not mine and he will never be mine.
