Chapter 10

Amity's POV:

"You ready" Luz was standing in front of something, she looks so good right now..focus Amity focus. "Yeah" Luz backs away from where she was standing and gestures me to walk in. I push the vines away and walk through, there was a beautiful field of flowers and it seemed like a rock path. I followed the path and was lead to a small bridge, I looked over at Luz, I was slightly worried until she smiled. I turned back around and started walking across the bridge. The river below was calm and clear, on the other side of the bridge there was a blanket on the ground. A picnic? Why is there a picnic? "I was thinking we could just chill out here" I look over at Luz to see her looking at the ground, smiling I took her hand and pulled her over to the blanket.

We sat down and Luz opened up the picnic basket, reaching in she grabbed 2 sandwiches and then 2 odd looking bottles. "What are those" I pointed to the bottles in her hand and she smiled then handed me one, "they are called iced tea, trust me they are really good" I looked back down at the bottle and the slowly went to open it, I took a small sip. "Holy crap, this tastes so fricking good!!" She giggled and handed me the sandwich, I put the cap back on and grabbed the sandwich, unwrapping it and taking a bit out of it. "So, why'd we actually come here" she looked like she seemed nervous, why did she bring me here? "O-oh uh...I uhm" she was hesitant and stuttering. "I wanted to tell you that...that I, Amity I li-" Luz was cut off by her phone ringing.

She stood up and put her finger over her mouth signaling me to be quiet. "Oh hey mom....uh huh...yeah definitely...wait can Amity come too?" Me? Can I go wear, wait I'm confused. Luz hangs up and puts her phone back in her pocket, "my mom wants me to come visit her, like today...and I was wondering, would you like to meet my mom?" M-me? Meeting her mom? Oh wow ok that's- ok. "Yeah sure" she sits back down and we continue eating our food. "So Luz, What were you about to tell me?" Her face got red and she started playing with her thumbs "oh it doesn't matter" she rubbed the back of her neck while looking off to the side, what was she about to tell me? I guess it wasn't that important.

We walked out of the cave and started to head back to the owl house, I was gonna meet her mom. What if her mom doesn't like me? Then I'll never be able to date her. We arrived at the owl house and Eda was standing at the door, she threw Luz the key and closed the door. "Oh well that was weird" Luz stared at door and eventually turned away, looking around probably to make sure no one was following us she pressed down on the key. A wooden door with a giant owl eye was displayed in front of us, it swung open with a bright light almost blinding, Luz took my hand and looked at me with a small smile. She pulled me into the door, I squeezed my eyes shut from the bright light.

When I opened my eyes again I was in a forest, "oh wow it's so pretty here" I looked around amazed by my surroundings. "Yeah it is" Luz let go of my hand and started walking, me following right behind her. We arrived at a house, weird moving things drove by and a weird small creature ran up one of the trees. I was pointing to things and Luz was telling me what they were. "Wait wait, what's that?" I pointed to a different small creature sitting at a window, it had pointy ears and a fluffy long tail. "That there is a cat, I have a cat myself" I nodded and smiled just admiring it. She stopped in front of a door and slowly lifted her hand to it, taking a deep breath she then knocked on it.

A few minutes went by, then the door swung open and a lady similar to Luz pulled Luz into a long and what it looks like very painful hug. She eventually let go and looked over at me. "Debes ser la chica de la que Luz siempre habla" huh? What did she just say??, should I answer? "Yes?" I rubbed my neck and looked at Luz, she smiled reassuring me I said the right thing. Luz's mother motioned for us to come in, Luz made her way inside as I slowly followed her. The small creature from earlier ran up to me and started nudging it's head against my leg. I bent down and carefully petted the cat, Luz giggled and took my hand leading me to a room that I'm guessing is her bedroom.

She sat down on her bed and patted the space next to her, I walked over and took a seat. "I wanna take you somewhere later" Luz looked at me with a sweet smile which soon turned into a large smirk. She grabbed my hand and pulled me down stairs and out of the house, "Where are we going??" She stopped and looked at me, putting my hood up she smiled again "you'll see" she grabbed my hand again and started walking. We stopped in front of a building, "wait here" I nodded as she ran into the building, eventually she came back out with stuff in her hands, she quickly stuffed them into her pocket and motioned me to follow her.

I followed her to a field, it was full of flowers and there was a small pathway. I walked down the pathway with Luz in front of me, she leaded me to a huge rock on the side of a cliff and sat down on it, I quickly made my way to her and sat down next to her. I turned my head and looked at what she was staring at, the beautiful pink and blue sky, and the sun right at the edge of the water. It was so beautiful, I turn my head to look at Luz, she was staring right at me. I felt a blush rise on my face, Luz pulled out something from her pocket and handed it to me. I unwrapped it and took a bite, "Oh my, this is so good" I shoved the rest in my mouth and Luz giggled. "It's called a snicker" I nodded and looked back at the sunset. A few minutes went by of just silence, it was a comfortable silence, a silence that was soon interrupted. Luz takes my hand in hers, gaining my attention. "Amity, I-I have to say something"
