showing up to school the next day felt like the right thing to do until Avani texted me and told me she had to stay home to help her sister pack for college(ik thats not right but i just need a reason for her to stay home)

I close my eyes and sigh.

But on the bright side last time she wasn't here i felt like a badass standing up to Chase, and now that we were...friends? everything was going to be fine.

I feel a hand touch my back and before i can even understand what's going on i'm on the floor with my lip bleeding.

I could also feel my knee bleeding, i must have reopened my scab from when chase and i went skating.

"Ow" I groan sassily and stand up, turning around to see someone i've never seen before.

"Oh my gosh, i'm so sorry, i didn't mean to-"

I stop listening to what he's saying and just take in all of him.

He's tall and he has sweet eyes, he's buff but seems gentle

"It's fine" I say and wipe my lip

"Are you sure?" He asks, shrinking into his shoulders a bit

"Of course" I respond

"I'm Quinton by the way" He says

"Aspen" I respond

"Are you sure you don't need ice?" He asks, reaching out to touch my lips but i grab his wrist quickly out of reflex.

"Oh sorry-" He tries to say

"Aspens got a boyfriend" A familiar voice teases from behind me.

"I gotta go" i whisper to Quinton before starting to walk off

"Aw Aspen where are you going?" I hear Gabi getting closer.

I hold my books close to my chest and start walking a bit faster, all i had to do was make it to my next class.

The loud footsteps behind me closer and i feel a presence behind me, she grabs my shoulder and i jolt away from her touch only to discover that it wasn't her following me, it was Quinton.

"Hey, what happened?" He asks

"Nothing she's just...Gabi" I smile a bit

"Well that boy back there with black hair told her to stop"

"Oh- that's Chase...usually he's not like that...he's usually on her side" I explain

"Well why does she tease you?" He asks

"She thinks i like Chase or something, dumb right?" I laugh

"Totally" He replies

I nod before starting to walk away again

"Hey Aspen?" He calls

I turn

"Would you wanna get shakes with me after school?" He asks

"Sure" I reply hesitantly, he smiles a toothy smile and then walks away.
