I run at him, adrenaline flows through my veins, freezing the pain temporarily.
I come at him with quick movements. He swings his fist and I baseball slide between his legs, grabbing one of his legs and making him face plant into the ground. By now blood has already ran down my outfit and now it running down my leg a bit. The man hops up and turns around to face me. I pull out a dagger from my boot.
"I thought you were more than just a dagger, Huntress." The guy's German accent ringing out through his voice. I slide the dagger by into my boot and face him.
"I wouldn't be The Dark Huntress if I was." I say back to him and I hear shouts of the soldiers in camp. I can hear the foot falls of boots coming closer. He charges me with a punch and I jump up kicking his fist away and I continue turning and kicking his legs out from under him again. I breathe heavily through my nose as he gets up again. My nostrils flare with anger rising inside of me. "Are you trying to kill me?" I ask him, my voice sharp and to the point.
"Who isn't?" He says back.
"Thanks for the answer, wise guy. I already knew that. I am one of the most valuable spies of this time." I say to him and he grins a wicked smile. He takes out a knife and holds it out.
"We're you ever told, not to bring a knife to a gun fight?" Someone says and I turn to see a soldier aiming a gun.
"Put the gun down. I'll hand this like a spy and he'll handle this like an assassin. The spies always win." I smirk and he puts down the gun. The man charges me and stabs me in the bad shoulder. I scream in pain and kick him away. He stumbles backwards away from me. I back flip one handedly and use my boot, kicking him in the face and to the ground.
He stand up one last time and I charge him. I knock him to the ground with a growl and I hold him with my good arm. The man grins at me and I smirk down at him.
"Who is sending you after me?" I yell at him. His grin gets bigger and his tongue fiddles around in his mouth. He bites down and I realize he is taking the coward's way out.
"Hail HYDRA." He mumbles grinning.
"You Coward!" I scream at him and drop him to the ground. I kneel down on one knee and take a deep breath.
After a few minutes. I know there is a crowd of soldiers in a circle watching me. I look up and stand up. I turn and find the Colonel looking at me. I raise my left arm to salute because my right shoulder still has a knife sticking out of it. He nods for me to put my hand down and I continue taking deep breaths.
"HYDRA is send assassins after The Dark Huntress, Sir. Dr. Erkstein and I got a note before we left Brooklyn after seeing off the 107th. This isn't of any caution to me really, but really Dr. Erkstein was in the note too. I would add some more protection to him." I say and I see him nod in agreement. The adrenaline rush burns out of my veins and the pain is coming in a whole new wave of intense.
I look around the group of shocked men and I see Peggy staring at my wounds. Then I notice Steve there, looking at me with my mouth agape.
"Would you like me to take care of him?" I ask pointing to the body of the coward. My brave side has to show for the rest of the soldiers.
"I'll have some other soldiers doing that. You might want to fix yourself up." He says and I nod.
"Do you need anything before I do so, Sir?" I ask as the pain becomes even more intense and I almost feel myself blacking out. I shake my head to clear them.
"Yes, I need you to clean up before my best spy and soldier passes out." He says and I nod.
"Dr. Erkstein, would you mind patching me up?" I ask him and he nods. I stumble over to him and he places and arm around me. "Recruits, spread out. Go rest up and I'll be joining you for training tomorrow." I say and I struggle to get those words out. Peggy comes and holds other side, making sure not to move my arm. Steve runs over in front of me.
