Chapter 8

Today I'm escorting Peggy and Steve to the shop for the transformation. Steve is going to get the serum injected into him and we're going to see if it worked on him. I do hope it works on him.

I crawl out of my bed as the sun peaks through my cabin's windows. I sit up on my bed with a groan and I rub the sleep from my eyes. I look over at some of the items I packed. I slide my feet over the edge of the bed and rub my eyes once again.

I stand up and get out of the warm comfort of my bed. Since I'm a controller of water I don't really get cold at all since water is both warm and cold.

I slip on my The Dark Huntress uniform with ease. I slide my weapons into place in a matter of minutes and I decide to not only put the mask on, but the goggles to cover my eyes. Sometimes they can be read like books and other times they're steely.

I grab my black duffle and walk out of the cabin. I swear everyone looked at me with fear written in their eyes. I strut through camp, my walk strong and passive. My hair is in a French braid down my back.

I find Peggy and Steve near Dr. Erkstein's cabin standing there. I walk up to them and look around the camp. Howard Stark then comes out of nowhere.

"Howard, long time no see. I thought you were in Brooklyn already." I say looking over at him.

"I'm taking a separate car with Dr. Erkstein." He says and I smile.

"Are you flying it?" I ask laughing and he punches me in the shoulder. "Yeah, I thought so. I shouldn't have left The Future convection of your so early, but I got to threaten a guy with a gun so I enjoyed that." I laugh and Dr. Erkstein walks out with the Colonel.

"Sir." I salute and he nods for me to put it down. "The cars will be here soon. We all look ready to go." I tell him.

"Thank you, Huntress. I'll also be riding with the doctor and I'll have a few guards on him. You protect and stay with Rogers and Peggy." He says.

"Yes, Sir." The cars arrive up at us. I hold the door open for Peggy and Steve. Peggy steps in and Steve motions for me to go in. "No Steve. I need to be by the door. I am able to use my gun out the window and I am able to get you and Peggy out faster if something happens." I say and the other car leaves fast.

I check under the car for any bombs and I slide into place. I motion for the driver to get moving. I take out a dagger and twirl it in between my fingers aimlessly. After a while I grab my guns and checked them for anything wrong.

In my duffle I had clothes and my bow. I take it out and quickly check the strings and I noticed Peggy and Steve watching me check them all.

"My weapons are good. The car is good. We're all safe." I look out the windows. "No gunman or snipers. Everything is perfectly okay." I pause. "Too okay." I look around.

"We're fine, Mary." Peggy says using my alias. Steve looks at her in confusion.

"It's too perfect, Peggy. No tampering on my weapons or the car. Nobody outside with a gun. Don't you feel it?" I ask her looking out the window. I look at the only real thing I haven't checked out. I turn to the driver.

"What's your name, soldier?" I ask the driver.

"Robert, ma'am." He says and I nod.

"I thought Jack was supposed to be driving." I say as if it were the truth. I was told it was supposed to be this Robert person a few days ago.

"He got sick yesterday, ma'am. I had to take over for him this morning." He says and I smirk. I turn quickly with a dagger to his throat.

"Who are you?" I growl and I see him tense.
