He still wondered what Ukraine meant by the threats. Of course it might of been empty lies, but part of it still frightened him. The taller country looked terrified when they realised Russia was there. Germany could see the colour fade from his face and his limbs tense up.
Poor guy must have seen some things.

Russia sat up with a yawn, cracking his back and mumbling tiredly as he climbed out of bed.  Ger was asleep on the other side of the bed, huddling up to the blanket. It was so hard resisting what his head was telling him to do, as it felt like the smaller did nothing but tease him, yet he forced himself to manage and look normal.
The sun was hidden weakly behind the curtains, while soft breezes flew through it, letting in the calming scent of flowers and fresh fruit. Such a beautiful mansion made any morning enjoyable, despite how polluted and smoggy the city really was.

Russia made his way down the stairs, rolling his shoulders back as he made it to the last step. He could hear chattering coming from the living room, and knowing immediately who it was, he walked in.
Most of his siblings had moved out of the city, but a few had stayed in the mansion and made a life for themselves here.
Ukraine, Belarus, Kazakhstan, and Estonia were the only people remaining in the house. For the longest time their only company was each other, but now some of the siblings had a love life of their own.

"Morning Russia."
Belarus smiled sweetly at him, but everyone knew it was just her trying to be nice. Nobody else greeted him, and the conversation went on like he wasn't even there.
Russ grumbled and glared over at them. Snatching himself two plates, one for himself and the other for Germany. He started making his way back out, but Belarus stopped him.

"Ukraine told me about the... man, you brought here yesterday.... I'm really not too sure about him.. Does he know about what's happening yet ?"
She stammered when she spoke.

"No. And I plan on keeping it that way. Stay away from him and I'll stay away from you. It'll only get worse if he finds out."

Russ sighed and looked at all of his siblings. Most of them were staring, expect for Ukraine.

"You especially. You screw enough up as it is."

His low voice sent shivers up everyone's spines. They felt like a weight had been lifted off of them once he left.

(Also bonus story because I couldn't find anywhere that I could fit this in and it wasn't good enough for its own chapter.)

Germany slept in the same bed as Russia. It annoyed him, but he got used to it eventually. They never cuddled or touched during the night since Ger would smack russ when he tried to. Sleeping beside him was already enough to make the smaller flustered.

He found out that Russia had nightmares very regularly. He didn't know every detail, but it seemed to be about the abuse he took from his father as a child.
Russia normally kept to himself and didn't make a scene, but tonight seemed especially bad.

The other country shot awake around midnight. Breathing heavily and crying uncontrollably, which woke Germany up.

"Russland ? Are you okay ?"

He yawned and sat up. Thinking it was better to wait until Russia calmed down before touching him. But he was surprised to feel the Russian pull him in and hold him like he'd disappear if he let go.

"Calm down. I'm right here."
He sighed tiredly and hesitantly hugged back. Not really sure what he should be doing to comfort him.

The sobbing and trembling below Ger only became more violent the more he stayed silent. The smaller groaned and carefully pulled him closer. Frustrated by the position and how close they were. But it wasn't important right now.

He stayed on his lap until the crying calmed down. The gentle wind not bothering him anymore as now Russki could keep him warm.

The taller went quiet for a few seconds, until a loud sigh was heard and he flopped back onto his back with Germany still held against him.

"Are you okay ?"
He repeated himself, patting his back while he waited to be let go. Russia just nodded into his chest, not loosening his grip for a second.
"Are you going to let go ?"
He felt Russia shaking his head into his chest.
"No... can we just stay like this tonight ?"

His face heated up at the question. But he couldn't really say no.

"Sure... just... don't try anything."

"Night."

"Night Russland."
