Germany was in the bathroom, bandaging his shoulder in front of the mirror. He had just finished his shower, which meant he had to go back to bed now. Luckily, Russ was at work now, and wouldn't be coming back for an hour or so. Enough time for him to fall asleep and avoid talking to him.

He pulled his brown t-shirt over his head and slipped on small black shorts. It was a bit revealing for his liking, but he didn't decide what clothes he got to wear.

Germany sighed and fixed his glasses, grabbing the doorknob and twisting it open to reveal the empty hallway leading to the bedroom.

Belarus dug her finger into the back of her shoe before peeling it off. She dropped the muddy heel onto the ground and handed her umbrella to the maid waiting to greet her.

She took off her coat, declined a food platter, and removed her scarf. Dropping it carelessly on another servants back before walking upstairs. She wanted a shower, to clear her head and cheer her up, but she spent most of it standing in the water.

Just thinking, nothing more.

About Russia, Germany, Ukraine and his childish fantasies.

Belarus twisted the tap shut and dropped her hands to her side, feeling the remaining drops of water fall onto the top of her head.

"Ma... I'm sorry.. I promised I wouldn't end up like him.."

-

Finding a gun wasn't so hard. It was out in the open on Russia's desk, loaded and awaiting use. For now Belarus slipped it into her pocket and made her way outside.

Ukraine's voice stuck in her ears, telling her to breathe slower, that this would be over soon.

She collected herself and took a step forward, the sound of her own breathing giving her slight comfort.

Germany sat on the edge of the bed, staring out the window with a glass of water and a book in hand. How he wanted to be out there. Dancing around in the sky like a bird. Just the thought made him smile.

But it quickly faded once the door opened.

Immediately he thought of Russia, but it couldn't be. His meeting went for an hour. He had said it himself. That it was important, urgent. They couldn't have cancelled it on such short notice.

He shakily closed his book and placed it on the bedside table beside him, initially avoiding any eye contact with him.

Germany's gaze soon shot up to him as he heard the click of a loading gun.

But to his surprise, it wasn't Russia standing there.

-

Belarus shakily held the gun up to him, a fearful look in her eyes.

"Breathe slower. He's the one that caused this. Just get rid of him."
Ukraine mumbled in the background, tapping his fingers on the table.

"Belarus-"

"Shut up, don't make a sound."

Belarus quivered, having to grab the gun with both hands to stabilise herself.

"Don't.. say a word."

Germany scrambled up, raising his hands in the air.

"Belarus, please, if this is about Ukraine, I didn't want it to happen, I had no part in it-"

"But it was you who drove russ to do that- he would never-"

Her shoulders raised and dropped as her breathing sped up. Gripping the gun as hard as she could had no effect on her trembling.

"Slower."

"If you'd never shown up here, we would still be together, that waste- my brother- would still be here. So stop talking-"

"Belarus, calm down"

"I don't need to. I don't care if you never wanted to be here, you just need to be gone."

Germany backed away a little.
"Please, If I had the choice to go back -

—————————————————————

- I would've never chosen to meet your father."

"Huh ? Why's that ?"
Belarus curled a flower around the wire her mother had prepared.

"Your father... he is a very.. stubborn man. He always wants things to be his way.

"Is that why you spent so much time in the garden when he's home ?"

"Yes, I guess so."
She smiled to herself and passed another flower to the tiny child.

"But.. if you had never met father, you'd never be able to have us."

"Is that an entirely bad thing ? You're all little devils~"
She ticked Belarus, making the smaller burst out into childish giggles.

"Haha- mama !"

———————————————————————

The sudden rush of nostalgia made Belarus choke back her tears, and drop the gun to cover her mouth with her hands. Why was she remembering this now ?
Because deep down she knew he wasn't the bad person here, just like her mother.

"You.. really didn't tell him to do that, did you ? It was all him, wasn't it ?"
She mumbled through her fingers, staring at the gun she had dropped.

"it was."
He softened as Belarus broke into more tears.

"Do you really want to be here ? With him ?"

Germany hesitated, but shook his head.

The other country bit her lip and looked to the side

"Then.. what if I told you there was a way to escape, get rid of Russia and end this war."
