Germany was sitting in bed, knees scrunched into his chest. He held a book in his hands but he wasn't reading it, too deep in thought to remember where he was up to.

The conversation from earlier kept playing in his mind.
It rightfully scared him. What if Russ found out ? He would be killed, but he didn't want to die here.

Ger whimpered and dropped his book, slumping down until he was laying on the bed.

The old grandfather clock ticked quietly in the background.

It read 9:30.

Russia should be home soon.

It wasn't like Germany to wait until he was home, usually he'd be fast asleep just to avoid talking to him. So wouldn't it be suspicious to suddenly greet him ? Maybe he should go to sleep.

But a connection needed to begin somewhere, on so maybe he should stay up.

9:45.

9:50.

He didn't know what to do.

9:55.

Germany couldn't give it away.

10:00.

But by then the decision was made for him.

The door creaked open, knocking Germany out of his thought process.

"Germany ? You're up ?"
Russia's thick accent never changed. Still low and gravelly with a hint of sweetness whenever the smaller was in the room.

A small panicked cough was heard from him.
"Um, yeah. I couldn't sleep."

Russia narrowed his eyes. A reply ? That wasn't like him at all. Usually  russ would be ignored, treated as if he wasn't in the room.
"Is something wrong..?"

That made the fear in his honey brown eyes swell. Dart around the room as if there was something there that could help him. The air pushed out of his lungs as a result of the panic, leaving his words breathless and weak.
He couldn't bring himself to reply.

Russia just chuckled and pushed past his worry.
"I'm gonna go to shower. You can fall asleep in the meantime."
He smiled slightly and walked into the bathroom.

-

Russ dropped his shirt beside him and splashed his face with water. Running his hand through his hair with a sigh. He really hoped he was overthinking this. Maybe he really couldn't sleep. Maybe Russia scared him so much that he couldn't speak clearly, that his eyes darted around the room. He wanted to believe that was all to it.

-
There were three more days of this, Germany would wait until he came home, say a few words to him, then fall asleep while he was in the shower.
-

Russia came home on the fourth day with a more serious expression. He was wearing one of his best suits, a black one with a red tie. It really highlighted his figure. Ger wasn't the first to notice that.

"Pack your things, I have a meeting over boarders, you're coming with me."
Russ grabbed a suitcase out, cracking a smile when Germany scrambled out of bed and rushed to the closet to get his things. He was so obedient nowadays.

-

The airport was busier than Ger had thought. So many people rushing around, it was a little overwhelming. He had to stay by Russia's side or he'd get lost.

They made their way to the airport. Russ found a chair, sat down and pulled the suitcase beside him.

"What are you waiting for ? Take a seat."
"There aren't any seats left."
The smaller turned to face him, face a little pink from the freezing temperatures and crowds. Russ gave an empty smirk in reply.

"Take a seat."

His eyes seemed cold, much different from the arrogant smirk and tone of his voice. Almost as if he wanted a certain reaction from him. There was a small silence between them.

Germany inhaled shakily and sat down on his lap, hands gripping onto the edge of his shirt. A timid and shy expression on his face.

Russia's smile faded. His eyes ran down Germany body, making the smaller shiver a little. His chin rested on his hand as his expression turned to more of a glare.

Something was wrong with him. Really, really wrong. Germany would never have done something like that, he would've kept his pride and self dignity and stayed standing. It was weird for him to listen so mindlessly.

"Look at you. We're in public, yknow ? Everyone here can see you hoeing yourself out like this."
He remarked loudly, making Germany's face go red.

"I didn't say where you had to sit. It could've been on the floor, or that spare seat down the isle."

"You would've been upset if I went that far-"

"Is that all you think about nowadays ? Pleasing me ? Jeez."

He grinned and wrapped his arms around Germany's waist.

"Oh well, if you don't mind a few eyes on you, that's fine."
The taller rested his head on his shoulder. Still unable to stop thinking despite how carefree he seemed.

-
The rest of the plane ride was somewhat uneventful, they landed in the bustling town of Beijing, China, with a few stops along the way.
