I watch Mary fall into much needed sleep. She looks so beautiful when she sleeps. Her usually tense features are turned delicate. I still can't believe that she is my mate. I am so lucky to have her as mine. Even though she has no idea what that means, or how it will effect her life.

I hear Ryn in the kitchen. I should probably explain what happened. Sighing silently I get up from the bed, carful not to disturb Mary. In the kitchen Ryn is making tea with some herbs she most likely grew. I know Ryn very well considering we were in love once.

"Want some? It should help you regain some energy."

I am a bit startled by how she notices my presence. I have forgot about the extent of her powers.

"Umm, yeah sure."

Being a from a Bocoy blood line has its perks. Ryn is a full blown witch. Not the kind that makes evil potions and prays on venerable children. She is a white witch, she uses her magic for healing and helping other things. It is one of the things that used to make me love her. We broke up simply because one day I knew I would find my mate. It would be selfish to let it go to far then through it all away.

"I'm surprised you went to that awful hole of a village. I know you hate that place."

"There's another werewolf around and he is not from my pack. I saw him once and wasn't able to mind link him."

Ryn stirs the tea, she is making her deep thinking face. She claps her hands turning towards me. Her face is all lite up, as if she has found the cure for common colds

"What if the wolf has been there all this time? They were done laying low or something. They could be like Mary."

I try not to growl as she says my mates name with venom. Instead I nod in agreement.

"I was about to go and look around. That's when I saw Mary being taken by the villages crazy doctor. You should have see him and his wife. They were blind with hatred. They were going to kill her. I had to get her out of there. I didn't have time to find the wolf. "

She doesn't say anything, as she passes me a cup of tea. Her face is full of understanding and shock.

"It amazes me how cruel people can be. Did you kill anyone?"
She asks as casually as you would ask someones favorite color. Ryn is never one to play games. She just gets to the point. I laugh at her bluntness. Then I remember what I did.

"Actually I did. This ignorant woman threatened Mary, and I lost all control. My wolf went crazy, that's when I knew for sure we were mates."

She nods and takes a sip of her tea. I notice the dark circles under her eyes. She looks exhausted for some reason.

"Are you okay? You look tired."
She snorts a laugh.

"Her thanks, you don't look to great yourself. I'm just a bit sleep depriv-"

She stops in mid sentence her face turns serious. She presses her finger to lips, telling me not to question. She looks over at the door. I sense someone close. I can tell its a male and human. The scent is familiar confirming he is from Mary's village. A low growl escapes me. I hate all of those people.

Ryn gets up and walk over to the door. Before she opens it I see her hide something in her sleeve. I wonder what she will do to the poor bastard on the other side of the door. Turning the knob I ready myself to attack. I recognize the guy standing in the doorway as Todd. Todd looks down at her, he seems to be momentarily shocked and at a loss for words. I recognized a admiration in his eyes. It is the same look he has when I talk about Mary. Noticing his distraction Ryn grabs his neck and kisses him. I'm to shocked by her actions to move or speak. I known her to be to be bold, but kissing a stranger is just outrageous. She pushes him back just as quickly as she kissed him. Todd stumbles back looking as shocked as me. Ryn is holding a light brown handkerchief.

"Auferte motus"

She repeats this over and over. I realize that she is casting a spell. It makes sense now. He stands still in the doorway. His mouth is open but no words come out.

"What did you do to him?"

I ask mildy annoyed with her. She turns to me still holding Todd's handkerchief.

"Why do you care Ster?"

"I care because I know this fool. Will you please release him from your spell? He means us no harm."

She stands there thinking for a moment then turns to Todd. She smiles at him mischievously. Placing a hand on his chest walking in a circle around him seductively. Todd is as still as a statue.

"What is his name?"

"Todd, now would you please let him go?"
She sighs and takes a step back. Starring at the handkerchief she says something in a language I can't understand.

"Reditum."

The cloth burst into flames in her hands. The fire doesn't burn her at all. I'm not surprised the fire element has always been her strong point. Once when we were kids she accidentally sent fire to a boys coat. All because he called her a lot boyish and ugly. She might be a white which but everyone gots breaking points.

Todd slowly regains his mobility and speech.

"Lord you are a witch."
He says in a more curious than angry tone.

"Yes she is, one of Valerie Ryn's many talents."
A look of realization crosses his face. Like he just remembered I was here.

"Where is Mary? I have to see her."

"She is in the other room resting if you must know."
A surprising hint of jealously is laced in her voice. Ryn has a thing for Todd.

"Okay."
Is all he says. I know he trusts me when it comes to Mary.

"Todd how did you get here?"
I am full of curiosity. Since I don't think the crazed villagers would let him go willingly with a horse.

"Ah well you caused quite the fuss when you left with Mary. Everyone was gathered for a meeting and I escaped. That's when I found a mule in the woods. And had a very uncomfortable time following your tracks here."
He paused and looks around.

"What even is this place? From the outside it looks small, but from the inside its very spacious. It's strange."

Before I can open my mouth to defend this place Ryn answers.

"This is my home. As for the strange part all I can say is looks can be deceiving."
Todd laughs and responds vacantly.

"I'm well aware of that miss Valerie."

For a reason I'm not quite sure of Ryn blushes at this. Uncertain that we are talking about magic I decide to go for a run. Ryn's tea has given me a lot of energy.

I almost turn but I see a group of people in the far distance. My superhuman eye sight lets me recognize them from a good distance. There are three men dressed in all black. They have hoods that disguise their faces. I don't need to see there faces to know who they are. I can smell their scent of death and destruction. They are the King Alpha's assassins.
