At precisely the time that the
sun rises I'm awoken by a very loud voice. Todd was yelling outside of my dwelling.I groan and mumble unladylike words. Then I remember that I put my bureau where my door was. Even though I'm sort of okay with a werewolf hanging around. I'm certainly not okay with squirrels in my room. I get up and go to move the bureau back to its original spot. Todd is in front of me before I take a single step. I look up at him about to tell him to move, but I see concern on his face and them relief in his eyes. My heart swells, he was worried about me.
He abruptly pulls me against him. I'm so surprised I forget what I was going to say. With his head against my neck he whispers.
"I thought I lost you."
I tensely laugh and break away from the embrace. Heat rises to my face making my face red. I lightly push Todd's shoulder.
"Well I'm right here."
I say as I curtsy in front of him. Trying to ignore the awkwardness in the air. I look anywhere but Todd. He slowly turns around and looks at the hole where my door was. Then asks me.
"Um, so are you going to tell me what happened to your door?"
"No, but you are going to get me a new door."
My order makes him laugh. I smile, happy that things aren't awkward between us anymore.
"I will, but first I'm going to get some food."
I haven't notice how hungry I have become. I decide to join him. We start walking towards the market. As we pass the tavern I see a man passed out on the porch. Laying in his own vomit.
People at disgusting.
The market is in the front part of the village. I can see the stone walls perfectly. The walls where made centuries ago meant to keep us safe. Protect us from outside threats. It makes wonder how Allison got-
The gates start to open. Which was strange, no one should open the gates until next spring when the trappers come back for the summer.
I eagerly watch as a man in a black hood comes in riding a chestnut colored horse. Then a wagon pulled by two large black horses. The wagon holds a huge empty steel cage. Four men sit in the wagon. They each wear black hoods that cover their faces. Who are they? And why did we let them in.
Marcel Collins our head councilmen greet them. I walk closer so I can hear them.
There leader gets off his horse. I notice that his arms are bare and show off his muscles nicely. He walks towards Marcel, then takes off his hood.
I nearly gasped when I saw him. He looks like he is in his late teens, right around my age. His bright blonde hair and piercing yet empty blue eyes. He had the highest cheekbones of anyone I've ever seen. One word comes to mind when look at him striking. He also
seems familiar but I feel as I would have remembered his face. Then he spoke in deep voice that makes him more handsome."My name is Sterling Pendragon."
When he spoke he looked around at the curious crowd around him. His eyes found mine and I felt shivers go through my body.
"I hunt a creature that you all know to well. I have tracked it here to your village. I am here to hunt the werewolf."
