(Sterling's POV)
I hear laughing in the background. My second in command Bruce is dealing cards to the other men. Probably playing some sort of gambling game. Bruce starts telling some far fetched story. I shake my head and silently laugh. My men we're displeasing to the eye but they have good hearts.
I stare at the brown bell that hangs by the door. I can't stop think about that girl in the red cape with the curly hair. Mary, she something was special. I smirk thinking about how she blush when I kissed her hand.
Since it is almost noon I should ring the bell. Maybe I could see little Mary again. I get up and walk towards the bell. I stand there, thinking about what I'm going to say when I see her.
"Sterling. Are you just going to stand their like a idiot? Or are you going to call the girl that caught you're fancy."
Bruce's brother yells. He is so short and stubby, I wonder if it takes him even a glass to get drunk.
"Shut it."
I command in a stern voice. He instantly shut his mouth and looks at the ground. And mumbles sorry. Good, he should show respect for me.
Just then I hear yelling outside. I go and see what all the fuss is about. A woman seems to be talking harshly to what looks to be her son. I get close enough so I can hear them.
"Todd you know what dark power she possesses! She is the Luna."
The mother whisper yells at her son. I nearly give away my hiding spot when I hear the name Luna.
My father and many others called my mother that. She had greater power then everyone except my father. Though he never talked about it I knew it was the reason she was murdered.
I have been so lost in a thought I haven't noticed they were no longer talking.
Todd was walking away. He was heading towards a familiar red cape Mary. She turned to him and smiled lightly. This made me want to strangle Todd. How dare he go near my little Mary. Consumed with anger and jealousy I walked back to the stone house.
Needing to let go of some of this anger I decide to go for a hunt. I tell Bruce I'll be back within the hour.
I find my horse Finn in the stables. A little boy in brushing my horse and talking to him. He notices me and steps back from the horse. I smile at him and saddle up the horse. Then the little boy speaks.
"What's his name?"
"Finn. Why did you brush him?"
"He looked more brown than red."
Laughing at his bluntness I mount Finn. Then look down at the small boy and ask.
"What's your name?"
He smiles shyly then answers.
"Samuel but you can call me Sammy,"
"Thank you for brushing my horse Sammy."
I say to him then start galloping for the woods. Once I'm far enough from the village I dismount, and tie Finn to a tree.
I start to run, the hunt has only begun.
