Chapter Twenty Seven: A Promise

Edge woke up before the other skeletons. He sit up from the comfortably green couch, yawning. When he saw how Red and Classic acted last night he knew that something is going on between them but he knew that they need to- Papyrus's door quietly open making him snap back to reality. Edge looked up seeing Papyrus rubbing his closed eyesocket, Papyrus noticed the tall skeleton already awake "OH, GOOD MORNING EDGE.." Papyrus greeted while waving at him, Edge waved back "...GOOD MORNING.." Papyrus knocked on Classic's door "BROTHER! RED! TIME TO WAKE UP!" When he herd a muffled "im up!" Through the door he went downstairs to cook breakfast. Edge decided to get to know the other version of him so it wouldnt be just complete silence between them. Edge sat down on a chair near the kitchen "PAPYRUS, MAY I ASK YOU SOMETHING?" Papyrus glanced at him with a smile "SURE!" before he continue cooking their breakfast "IS YOUR SANS LAZY LIKE MY BROTHER?" Papyrus chuckled "YES, THEY ARE BOTH LAZY, THEY ALSO LIKE TO SLEEP ON THEIR SENTRY" Papyrus continued laughing "WHAT DO YOU DO WHEN THEY SLEEP ON THEIR JOB?" Edge ask "I WAKE THEM UP SOMETIMES AND TALK TO THEM. THEY APOLOGIZE AND STARTS TELLING ONE OF THEIR AGONIZING PUNS" Edge was a little confused "YOU DONT PUNISH THEM?" Papyrus looked at him with a confused face "WHAT DO YOU MEAN BY THAT?" Papyrus asks, Edge just looked away and shook his head "NEVERMIND.." Papyrus continues cooking breakfast "DO YOU...WANT ME TO HELP YOU WITH COOKING?" Papyrus looked at him with stars in his eyesockets "THAT WOULD BE GREAT!" Edge decided that he will be as kind as he possibly can to him for taking care of his brother. They have fun with cooking and had a small and friendly competition on whos better at cooking. When Red and Classic went downstairs they herd laughter from their brothers, they went to the kitchen and saw the tall skeletons posing proudly.
"I, THE GREAT PAPYRUS WILL SURELY WIN!"
"NO YOU WILL NOT! BECAUSE I, THE TERRIBLE PAPYRUS WILL BEAT YOU!"
Red and Classic looks confused "whats happening here..?" Classic ask looking at the two skeleton "ME AND EDGE DECIDED TO HAVE A FRIENDLY COMPETITION ON WHOS COOKING IS BETTER! NOW.." Papyrus and Edge put their meals on the table "SIT" the two skeletons did as told. The shorter skeletons are the judge and the taller skeletons are the chefs. They tasted the two different dishes and to be honest, both of them are delicious. Both Papyrus waited eagerly for the result "SO..?" Both skeletons looks at their brother and smiled.
"both of them are good"
"mm-hm" Both Papyrus looked at each other.
"SO DOES THAT MEAN.."
"..WE TIED?" Papyrus reach out a hand for Edge to shake "NYE HEH HEH!! THIS PROVES THAT NO ONE CAN BEAT A PAPYRUS BECAUSE THEY ARE TOO GREAT!" Papyrus said, Edge shook his hand "I AGREE" Classic and Red smiled at them both, glad that the two of them are arent fighting "ANYWAY, LETS EAT BREAKFAST!" After breakfast, Classic needs to go to his station and Papyrus needs to go to Undyne. Classic and Red was about to use a shortcut but Edge stopped them "SANS, I NEED TO TALK TO YOU.." Edge told Red, seriousness can be herd from his voice, Classic just smiled then says "welp, gotta go to my station..." Classic turned around to face Edge "also.. just a friendly advice for ya buddy, hurt Red again and.." Classic's eyelights are gone, eyesockets just full of darkness it made both Edge and Red flinch in fear "your gonna have a bad time, we dont want that now do we?" Classic's eyelights returned, he closed one eyesocket before saying "see ya.." he half waved goodbye before using a shortcut and disapearing. Now only Red and Edge are there and it made Red nervous a little "s-so boss... what do we need ta t-talk about?" Edge sat down on the green couch and let out a heavy sigh "SANS, I UNDERSTAND WHY YOU LIKE THIS AU SO MUCH BUT.." Edge paused before talking again.

"WE NEED TO GO BACK.."

Red stared at him with wide eyesockets, he didnt want to leave this perfect universe, not when he found someone who cares for him, who understands him. "I KNOW YOU DONT WANT TO BUT, WE BOTH KNOW THAT WE DONT BELONG IN THIS UNIVERSE AND WE CANT STAY HERE FOREVER.." Red looks at the floor, suddenly finds it interesting. He let out a sigh "i know boss its just..." Edge has a sad look, he may be new in this universe but everyone looks so friendly and Red looks like he really dont want to leave "IM SORRY SANS, BUT WE HAVE TO. WE HAVE TO GO BACK, WE HAVE A LIFE IN UNDERFELL THAT WE NEED TO CONTINUE...S-SANS?" Edge noticed theres tears falling from Red while hes facing the floor. Edge looks surprised, he knows that Red didnt want to leave but for him to cry?! This must be really serious. "S..SANS? YOU KNOW WE CAN VISIT THEM RIGHT?" Red quickly wipes his face, why was he being so emotional? He needs to be tough! He looks so pathetic and weak right now, crying like a kid, and like Edge said, they can come back! "yeah, i uhh.. i'll talk ta him, we cant just suddenly go missin' right?" Red forced a chuckle "when are we gonna leave?" Red asks "WE LEAVE TONIGHT, DOCTOR ALPHYS SAID THE PORTAL WILL APPEAR AGAIN WHERE YOU FOUND IT.." Red nods his head "okay boss.." "ALRIGHT THEN... OH AND YOUR FRIEND, CLASSIC WAS IT? HE IS KINDA SCARY, ARE YOU SURE HE'S BEEN TREATING YOU WELL?" Edge asks worriedly, the way Classic threatened him earlier is just.. scary. Edge herd a laugh from Red. It made Red happy that Edge shows that he cares for him "yeah.. he can be scary when hes serious, but hes a nice monster, he found me and healed me when i fell here.." Red has a small smile on his face "anyway, gonna go ta his station, are ya gonna come with me?" Red ask "NO, I WILL GO TO PAPYRUS AND OBSERVE HOW HE FIGHT" Red chuckled "okay then.." Red used a shortcut to go to Classic's station, he landed in front of it "oh, there ya are! ya started to worry me a little.." Classic chuckled, Red went inside his station and tightly hugged him, it worried Classic "did..something happened Red? did he hurt you?" Classic ask worriedly "nope, just.. he told me that.. we need ta go back.. to our universe.." Classic froze, his eyesockets are wide "oh.." Classic hugged back "..but we can visit so ya wont miss me that much sweetheart~" Red chuckled as he noticed Classics face went blue "oh shut up you dork!" They both chuckled and pulled away "so.. when are ya gonna leave?" Classic asks "..tonight because it'll be morning there" Classic nod his head "oh and Classy, when i go back here i want yer forearm to have no cuts!" "okay mom.." Red chuckled at him.

"THIS IS HOPELESS!! I'VE BEEN TO HUNDREDS OF DIFFERENT UNIVERSES NOW BUT HES NOT THERE! MAYBE HE ALREADY..! ALREADY..." Edge shouted in frustration, its been a month and they still cant find Red anywhere. Hes been to a lot of AU's already but he's not there, hes starting to lose hope "Come on Papyrus! Dont lose hope now! We still have 10 other AU's to go to! Maybe he's in there!" Edge sat down on the chair sighing loudly, crossing his arms "We cant give up now Papyrus, dont lose hope.." Papyrus looked at Alphys, she is starring at him with begging eyes "FINE..." Alphys immidietly smiled "Great!"

Classic and Red spend the whole day laughing and talking like Red isnt leaving, like everything is normal. But when the night came Classic knew he needs to say goodbye for now, and it made him sad, it made him feel lonely again. Classic already told Papyrus that they will leave to go back to their own universe.

"NYOHOHO...MY NEW FRIEND IS GOING TO LEAVE.." Papyrus sadly said
"welp, guess its time ta go huh.." Red chuckled sadly, Edge looked at Papyrus "NEXT TIME.. CAN WE HAVE ANOTHER 'FRIENDLY' COMPETITION AGAIN?" Edge asks which made Papyrus smiled "OF COURSE!"

"heh, guess i have to say goodbye huh.." Classic said, his hand behind his head "no need ta be sad Classy, i'll be back ya know..i promise" Classic chuckled "ya know your a Sans right? ya cant keep promises" Red smirked "wanna have a bet?" Classic smirked back "sure" "TIME TO GO BROTHER.." Edge sadly said..
