Chapter Twenty Five: Restart

Hehehe...

While writting Chapter Twenty Three, I felt like I was something was missing....

It felt like Im missing someone important...

Then I remembered Edge and I knew I had to do something...

After all... an ending would be incomplete if someone else isnt happy, right?

"SSAAAANNSSS!!!"

Edge shouted as he saw his big brother falling into the dark abyss. Tears are falling with him. His eyelights are small, full of fear. He did this. He drove his brother insane that he willingly killed his self. Its like realization hit him like a bus at a full speed. He got hit so hard that he broke down, he started crying. He felt his regrets crawling on his back. All he wanted to do was for his brother to be tough. To be tough physically and emotionally. When he was training to be one with the royal guards, the training was horrible, ruthless monsters bullying the newcomers and punishing them when they only made a tiny mistake. Yes, It was horrible but Edge knew that he needs to hold on, he needs to be stronger to protect him, to protect his brother, his only family. But showing love is considered a weakness, they would call you pathetic, they would call you a crybaby and other names. So, Edge came up with such a dumb idea to be harsh to his brother, to train him to be tough and to survive in this messed up world.
But he didnt mean for this to happen. He was always so stressed out because of other monsters pushing him around and telling him he is not good enough. He was focusing too much on getting stronger that he forgot about whats important and because of all this stress he takes it all out on Red. Today he really fcking messed up, he attempted to kill his brother, he didnt know what got into him but now its too late. He's gone. He's never coming back. He will never come back. Its all his fault. Edge was crying so hard that its getting harder and harder to breath. He lays there, starring at the fake stars shinning above him. His tears just kept pouring, it wouldnt stop, he couldnt stop crying.

A lot of time passed, maybe three hours? Five? He didnt know or care but he decided to go home now. He was walking all alone to home, monsters who know him was looking at him, confused as to why hes looking so down but decided not to question it. Edge got home and unlocked the door, the house never got this quiet, nor empty before, even if theres only two of them there. Edge walked upstairs, not bothering to eat, he took a short glance on his big brothers room before shaking his head. He lay down on his bed and burried his face on the pillow "IM SORRY BROTHER... IM SORRY... IM SO.. IM SO... IM SO SORRY!!" Tears started falling once again. That was the most restless night he ever had.

In the morning, Edge just did his usual routine, but without yelling Red to wake up and without kicking him out of the house and without screeming at him to not fall asleep on his sentry and without Edge hearing one of his many terrible puns. Edge let out a deep sigh, he just dont want to go to work now. He just doesnt care about another human falling here. He just doesnt care about escaping the underground and end this long war between them and the humans. He just doesnt care anymore.. but he know that working his butt off and driving his brother insane would all go to waste. So, he summons all his courage to stand up and try to be his usual self.

"I SINCERELY APPOLOGIZE FOR BEING LATE, CAPTAIN UNDYNE!" Edge said to the captain of the Royal guards, a woman who feared by all monsters, Undyne. Undyne glares at the tall skeleton "You of all guards? Being late?! Papyrus... are you trying to dissapoint me..?" her scary and threatning voice echoed through the silent waterfall. Edge was used to it, all he could do was just looked down and sighed "NO CAPTAIN..." Edge responded looking down, cussing at his self for being 10 minuets late. "do NOT do that again.." Edge nod his head slowly "YES CAPTAIN.." While training, Undyne noticed that Edge looks like he is distracted by something, after all, Edge never, and she ment NEVER been late before. Undyne can also hit Edge with her sudden attacks which NEVER happened before, She just shrug the feeling off but she was kinda confused.
The next day, he was 10 minuets late again. He was scolded by Undyne with a voice louder than before "Again?! This is your last and final warning Papyrus!! If your late again tomorrow then there will be serious consequences! Understand?!" Edge gulped and nod his head "YES CAPTAIN! I AM SO VERY SORRY!" "Good!" While training, Undyne noticed his movements was slower than before and today he was once again, late. Undyne started to be more confused and whatever or whoever is slowing him down and making him late will pay.
The next day Edge was fiftheen minuets late, this made Undyne even more mad. Edge came here running, panting for air like he just ran a marathon. "Uurrrgghh!!! PAPYRUS!! YOU. ARE LATE. AGAIN!! AND MORE LATE THAN YESTERDAY!!" Edge flinch which Undyne never saw before. Even if Edge was scared, he never showed it to anyone, not to any monsters, not to her. "What the FCK is wrong with you?!!" Undyne shouted, her loud voice echoing through the hallway. Edge looked down, he looks so..sad? Undyne's eyebrows furrowed in confusion and also because shes mad that Edge is acting like this. Out of anger, Undyne threw a spear, Edge looked up noticing something on his way. He saw a spear targeting him but he was too late and it stabbed his red scarf and its like he snapped. He immidietly grabbed the spear and pulled it out, the spear breaking in the progress. Undyne sensed a strong feeling around Edge "I AM VERY SORRY CAPTAIN..." Edge said but it doesnt sound or looks like he means it. Undyne was now more confused but less angry than before. "I WILL ACCEPT ALL MY CONSEQUENCES FOR BEING LATE AGAIN" Edge looks like he is mad, but hes not glarring nor looking at Undyne, hes looking on the side but facing her. Undyne let out a huge sigh "You know what? Whatever.. lets just begin" The training started, Edge looks a lot serious this time. He was dodging her attacks and sudden attacks a lot quiker, he was swinging his weapon at full force, his left eyelight glowing a gold color. He was so focus on attcking and dodging that he forgot that he is training with Undyne because when he looks at her he can see his self, smirking at him. He was so mad at himself that he turned the soul blue and threw it on the wall. Edge hears shouting, he got confused as to why the monster was smirking at him until he realized that he is with Undyne. His eyelights returned to normal as he rush infront of her to see if shes alright "UNDYNE! I..I DIDNT MEAN TO DO THAT! IM SORRY! IM SO SORRY!!" Undyne was sitting there, her right hand is on her left side. "Your strong Papyrus.." she chuckles "...but I noticed that somethings wrong with you.. Tell me." Undyne looks at Edge "Now." Edge let out a shaky breath "IM FINE CAPTAIN-" "Bullsh1t! Papyrus tell me NOW!" Undyne sharply inhaled "BUT YOUR HURT CAPTAIN-" "I told you your strong but, Im still stronger than you! This is probably just a bruise. Stop changing the topic! Answer the damn question!" Edge looked away "SANS HE..."
"Is that lazy @$$ skeleton being in your way again?! I swear to Asgore when I see that-"
"...HE'S DEAD" Undyne's eye widen, her pupils shrunk.
"h..he's.. what?"
"HE'S DEAD UNDYNE... I...I KILLED HIM.. I KILLED MY BROTHER..." Edge was expecting to be pushed away, expecting to hear 'your just like the others'
"You..? No.. NO! YOU?! KILLED YOUR OWN FCKING BROTHER?! WHAT THE FCK DID YOU DO??!!!" Undyne shouted, demanding for an answer, she cant believe it! Edge may be mean to his brother but he would NEVER kill him! He is his only family! He even said that before he joined the royal guard! He was training to be strong just to protect his only family! To bring peace and to lessen the level of voilence in the whole place!
"I... I WAS TRYING TO.. KILL HIM BUT I-... I WASNT GOING TO! HE RAN SO I CHASED HIM.. HE RAN AND RAN UNTIL HE WAS TRAPPED IN A DEAD END... HE WAS AT THE EDGE OF THE CLIFF... I WAS ABOUT TO DRAG HIM BACK HOME BUT HE... HE LET HIS SELF FALL...HES DEAD UNDYNE..! HES DEAD BECAUSE OF ME!!" Tears are dropping on the floor. Undyne starred at him with wide eyes, trying to understand what happened. Red willingly killed his self, because he thought he was gonna get killed. Red is dead because of him. Edge was expecting shouting, words that will kill you, a spear on his head, he waited but nothing happened. He looks up at Undyne.
"Its your fault hes gone.. but.. you didnt expect that...that would happen... its your fault but.. you regretted it..." Undyne was confused, she didnt want to believe that Edge is a killer but it is his fault that hes dead but he didnt push him or anything that could lead to dying.

"IM... SORRY.." Was all Edge could say. Its the only thing he can. He cant restart to change how he treat his brother. He cant restart to change what he did. He cant restart to bring back his brother. He cant do anything now..

"Papyrus..."

A new voice was herd, well not really new, it was very, very familliar to Undyne's ears. They both turned their heads seeing the one and only crazy royal scientist...

"He's still alive"
