Jolting upwards, Vanessa panted as her breathing tried to keep pace with her heart. Her body was in a cold sweat as she struggled to catch her breath. Another nightmare, same as usual. She looked at the time, it was almost time to get up. Might as well get ready. Her eyes were drooping. Her legs wobbled a bit, she stretched a bit and got her body back into proper shape.

"You're up early." Glitchtrap said. Vanessa jumped a bit, not expecting it.

"Yeah..I had a nightmare.."

"Want to talk about it, my dear?" Glitchtrap asked. Vanessa fell silent, her body shivering as she thought back to it.

"Not...really.." She said. Glitchtrap could sense her uneasiness.

"Another about your parents, dear?"

"Yeah. I'm not gonna ask how you know that seeing as you're basically in my head." She said, giving a weak joking smile.

"You're learning fast, my dear." He said, chuckling a bit after.

"I'm not the only one." She mumbled, getting dressed.

"Vanessa Morgan!" Her mother called, she flinched at the sound and called back.

"Yeah?"

"Come down this instant!"

"One second! I'm getting ready!" She called, quickly shoving her legs into her pants. She hopped over to the door, buttoning her jeans. She readied for the worst, walking downstairs.

"The electric bill came, it's 200 dollars above what it's supposed to be. You better be paying it this time." Her mother said, shoving the paper to her. She opened the nearly crumpled paper, looking at it. It was $650. She sighed and closed it.

"I'll pay my end, Mom."

"No! You're paying for all of it or you can kiss this little job of yours goodbye! I'm tired of your excuses, Vanessa Morgan!" She shouted. Vanessa's eye twitched as she listened to the old bat screech at her.

"Mom, I won't have enough money by the end of this week to pay."

"Then you better get a promotion, cause I'm not paying for no video games!" Her dad yelled from the kitchen.

"That's not how it works!" Vanessa interjected.

"You better work another job then, Vanessa." Her mother suggested rudely. She glared a bit.

"If you don't pay these bills like the adult you're supposed to be, I'm getting rid of that computer! I won't just sell it neither! I'll get my sledge hammer, one smash and it's gone. Enough is enough. You're gonna grow up and realize these stupid video games won't get you nowhere!" Her father threatened. Her brow furrowed.

"Well you know what?! I'm tired of being stepped on like a welcome mat! I've never played it, I've play tested!"

"That's the same fucking thing, Vanessa"

"No it's not! And stop calling me by my full name! You want the privilege to do so then fucking act like parents instead of spoilt money grabbing assholes! You spend your whole nights partying and come bitch at me when you're too lazy to get it done yourselves! Piss off and leave me to my job! Maybe you should get one, since you're the "adult" here!" She snapped, turning away to go back upstairs. Something jerked at her hair, tugging her back and causing her to tumble backwards. Her joints and back hitting the steps one by one and eventually the hardwood floor. She cried and shivered, trying to get up.

"You ever talk to me like that again and I'll make sure you won't say a word!" Her father shouted, raising his hand and coming down again, landing a hit on her arm as she blocked herself. He had her mother attempt forcing her to open up. He took his opposite hand and landed a clean hit, the diamond and metal of his wedding ring leaving a tender bruise on her cheek. Her nose gushed with fresh and warm blood. Vanessa's heart raced and her adrenaline ran hyper, she knew this would be the end of her.

"Help!! Help me!! They're gonna kill me!"

"Shut it!" He slapped her again, her hair catching against his ring. She cried as he tugged at one of her uncut bangs.

"You already broke two rules, Vanessa! Don't act like we didn't notice your hair! You fucking failure!" Her mother shouted, throwing her to the floor.

"You ever talk back to me again and I'll make sure you regret it." Her father whispered in her ear. The violent words caused spit to fly at her, making her flinch. She laid quietly on the floor, her body aching. She felt something overcome her body. A rush of energy and numbness. Her body went numb and she could barely see what was going on.

"Easy does it, my dear. Let me have control. You'll have less pain, I promise." Glitchtrap whispered calmly. She allowed him to take over, soft thuds of him taking her up the stairs and into her room. She felt her legs again and they buckled as soon as she could. She whimpered as her body dropped to the floor like a doll.

"Shh" He shushed softly. She passed out soon enough and dreamt of a white plane, she sat in a lone flower field. Her body relaxing in the calming flowers. She had someone to put trust in. She would be free soon enough. In the near distance she could see Glitchtrap dancing, it put her at ease.

"You silly rabbit you." She giggled. He spun around like a majestic ballerina and spotted her, waving as before.

"I'll see you soon, my dear. Do not worry about everything else, I will take care of it." He purred. She smiled.

"Okay, I trust you." She said.
