Gone (Sasuke Uchiha x reader)

Chapter five

"The Hokage tower!" I exclaimed. I let go of Sasuke's hand and took off running.

"(NN) wait!" Naruto exclaimed. I kept running until I got to the front door. I froze and stared at the door. 'Why am I suddenly so... scared. Maybe this was a bad idea? Maybe it is too soon? What will Shika say? Did he even miss me? Did anyone-'

My thoughts were interrupted.

"___!" Sasuke said when he caught up to me. "You okay?"

I looked him in the eye for the first time today. "I'm just..."

"Overthinking?" He said. My eyes widened in shock. He smiled slightly and hugged me. "Everything will be okay and I know everyone will be ecstatic to see you. "

I sighed and hugged him back.

"Hey! Is everything okay or is this some cheesy 'let's have a moment to ourselves without Naruto' type of thing?"

I laughed and shook my head. "Nope. Lets just... go inside."

Naruto opened the door and walked inside. He opened the door to his office.

"Ah Shikamaru! Good morning!"

"You're late," Shikamaru said.

"I had a good reason! I have a really good surprise!" Naruto said, and Sasuke walked into the room.

"Oh, Sasuke. What a lovely surprise." Shikamaru said dryly.

"He's not the surprise. I thought you were supposed to be smart? Now close your eyes!" Naruto said. Shikamaru sighed and closed his eyes. I peeked out from behind Sasuke and smiled. "Shika!"

Shikamaru scrunched his eyebrows. "No one can call me that but-" He paused.

"Me?" I said and walked over to him. He slowly opened his eyes.

"Surprise!" Naruto said. "This is why I was late."

Shikamaru looked at me in shock. "__-___?" I couldn't help myself. I jumped on him and wrapped my arms around his neck. He instantly wrapped his arms around my waist tightly and lifted me up.

"How? I- I thought I'd never see you again."

"I thought so too... at one point, but I'm home now," I said softly.

After a few moments, Shika put me down and smiled. "Wait until Temari sees you. She'll probably actually cry."

"YOU AND TEMARI ARE TOGETHER??? MY SHIP IS CANON???" You asked with a bright smile. Shikamaru nodded. "I guess they haven't caught you up with everything yet. You'll see it soon. Now, HOKAGE you have work to do."

Naruto sighed and sat at his desk. I finally looked around and took notice of the room. There were piles of papers everywhere. Everything was just disorganized. I shook my head and walked over to a random pile. The guys were busy talking about... something. I sat on the floor and flipped through the pile. 'Man this is completely disorganized.' I thought with a head shake. I sorted out the pile into a few neat piles. I made a pile for important documents, a pile for mail, and a bunch of other stuff. I even separated potential missions into separate piles (from S-D) with the payment for each mission.

I'm not sure how long I've been sorting, maybe a few minutes? Two and a half stacks of papers later I was interrupted.

"(NN)! " Naruto exclaimed. "What are you doing?"

"Sorting. Your office is a mess!"

Shikamaru took the sorted piles and set them on Naruto's desk and looked through them.
