Gone (Sasuke Uchiha x reader)

Chater sixteen

Sasuke sat on your couch and stared at the only pictures you had propped up on the small shelf.

The first picture was a picture of team seven. Kakashi stood behind Naruto and Sasuke, who glared at each other, Sakura stood in front of Sasuke and smiled, and you stood in front of Naruto. Your arms were crossed and you smiled at the camera.

The second picture was a picture of you and him. It right before he left the village, He stood next to you with his arm wrapped around you. He stared down at you lovingly and you smiled at the camera.

The third picture was a picture of you, Gaara, and Naruto. You stood between the two and smiled at the camera. Naruto has his arm wrapped around your shoulder and he grinned at the camera, and Gaara had his arm wrapped around your waist, and he smiled slightly at the camera.

The last picture was a picture of you and him. It was before he was released from jail and left for his journey. You stood in front of him and both of his arms were wrapped around you and rested on your stomach. His chin was on your shoulder and he looked at you lovingly while you smiled at the camera.

Sasuke sighed and ran his hands down his face. He actually took this time to reflect on... everything. After all of these years, he's never actually stopped to think about how everything he's done affected you and made you feel. After everything he did in the past, you still forgave him and agreed to marry him. His biggest goal was always to be with you. Ever since you both were in the academy, he wanted you to be his wife, but it was always after he did this, or after he did that.

Then it hit him. He's always made you a second choice. Even though he loved you dearly, he still ended up putting something ahead of you.

"Not again," He mumbled to himself before he left your house.

"Sasuke!" Sakura said in surprise. "I'm surprised you're here."

"We need to talk," He said before walking away. Sakura quickly slipped on her shoes and followed him. Sasuke stopped when he reached an empty field.

"Are we gonna talk about before? You didn't mean what you said, did you?"

Sasuke stared at her for a moment. "Sakura, we're getting divorced."

"W-what?" She said as tears welled up in her eyes.

"I dont love you, and I never did. What we did," He paused and shook his head. "It was a mistake and I shouldn't have done that. I care about you, I really do, but what I did was wrong. I shouldn't be playing with your emotions like this when I dont love you. I love ____, and you know I always have."

"No, please Sasuke." She said as she wrapped her arms around him. I know you love me, and I've always loved you-"

"Stop, Sakura," He said before grabbing her arms, then gently grabbed her hands.

"But... yesterday we-"

"That was a mistake. I was wrong to do that, and I shouldn't have said what I said after. I truly care about you, but I'm not in love with you."

"This is all her fault! How can you love her after-"

"Dont say it," He said while glaring down at her. She got quiet, and tears flowed freely down her cheeks.

"It's not her fault, it's mine. I shouldn't have even done what I did with you years ago when I knew my heart belonged to her. I was wrong to take advantage of your feelings for me just because I felt," He paused. "Empty... without ____."

Sakura looked down and kept crying. "I'm sorry. I hope that we can be friends for Sarada, but we're over. There was never any hope for us anyway."

"Why?" She mumbled. "Why is it always her? Even when we were kids, you always liked her more than me. You would ignore me, or call me annoying, but you were nice to _____, you guys even started dating during the Chunin exams. Even when you had left the village... you always thought of ___. I know you saw each other during that time... I was always no one to you. Why not me? Why can't you just love me?"

Sasuke was quiet for a moment. "Why me?"

"Huh?"

"Why do you love me?"

"Well... because you're you. You were the hottest, strongest, coolest guy in the academy. When we became teammates, I got to know you a little bit more, and I just... I just love you. I can't really explain why."

"It's the same for me. I just love ____. I can't explain why. It's just her. She's everything I want and more, she's my soulmate."

"You said that back then too."

"Huh?"

"Before your journey, you said ___ was your soulmate. I guess," She paused. "You'll always choose her. It must run in the family, Sarada likes her too."

"She does?"

"Yea," Sakura said before sighing. "I'm sorry for what I said. I wanted to hurt her, but saying those things hurt you too."

Sasuke nodded.

"So, what now?"

"There are things I need to do," Sasuke said before walking away.
