Chapter 20

"I really dont have to go, ya know. I'm sure that dobe could find someone else-"

"Go, Sasuke," I said with a small chuckle. "The mission is only for three days at most."

"That's a long time," Sasuke said while crossing his arms.

"I do recall you saying you wanted a steady source of income. Missions like these could be good for you."

"Yea yea," Sasuke said with an eye roll. He leaned down and pecked my lips. "I'll miss you."

"And I'll miss you."

Sasuke smiled for a moment, before poking my forehead and leaving the village.

On my walk back to the Hokage tower, I ran into Konohomaru and his team.

"Hey, guys!"

"Big sis! How are you?"

"I'm alright. Sasuke will be away for three days, so I'll b pretty bored, but all is well."

"Three days?" Sarada said.

I nodded and ruffled her hair. "Yea, dont miss him to much though."

"That's the shortest mission I've ever seen him go on."

"Really? Wow," I said. "So what are you guys up to?"

"We just got back from a mission," Konohomaru said.

"How'd it go?"

"They did great!" He said with a proud smile.

"Aww, great job! I'm proud of you all," I said.

"Orochimaru wanted me to give you this," Mitsuki said before handing me a small box. I smiled before taking it and opening it. It was a beautiful diamond bracelet with a note.

Happy you're safe. We should get dinner one day.

I smiled. "It's beautiful. Tell him I'd love to get dinner one day."

Mitsuki nodded.

"I should get going," I said as I ruffled Konohomaru's hair. He chuckled. "Alright, see ya."

Naruto and I stayed late at the office because we had so much god damn paperwork to do. By the time we finally left, it was well past midnight. Naruto walked me home, and when I got home, there was a box at my front door. I picked it up and went inside, assuming it was something else from Orochimaru or Sasuke.

'Maybe it's for Sasuke?' I thought as I set the box down on the table and sat down on the couch. I pulled the tape back and opened the box.

"What the shit?!" I exclaimed before standing up and dropping the box. Out of the box rolled a real heart, with a bloody note stuck to it.

"The fuck?" I mumbled before picking up the note.
