THE BOYS STILL WEREN'T SPEAKING TO EACH OTHER. Nyx found it unnatural and unpleasant; their entire group dynamic had changed. Ron was only hanging out with Seamus and Dean — at least, he was with them far more than he was with Hermione, Nyx, or Harry (of course).
Harry, by the way, had been spending more and more of his time with Nyx and Hermione. Although Nyx liked having Harry around, she wanted it was during better circumstances, and for a better reason. Besides, it was so obvious that he missed Ron. It was the same with Ron, it was obvious that he missed Harry too.
"They're both miserable," Nyx whispered while flipping through yet another ancient library book.
"I know, but there's nothing more we can do," said Hermione. "We've already talked to both of them, now it's the rest is up to them."
Nyx sighed, even though Hermione was right.
"...That's not very comforting. Neither one of them is willing to make the first move. I don't even think they're angry anymore, they're just too chicken to make up."
"Well, I—" Hermione was interrupted when suddenly there was a gaggle of high-pitched giggling.
She and Nyx looked down the aisle to see Viktor Krum had entered the library followed by a group of sixth-year girls; he didn't look too pleased to have them following him.
It was odd. Nyx still hadn't gotten over the fact that someone who was so widely known (famous) like Viktor Krum was simply walking around Hogwarts like a normal student. Although, that is was he was— a normal student, one that just happened to be extremely good at Quidditch.
"Honestly," Nyx heard Hermione scoff from beside her. "Why does he even bother to come here all the time?"
Nyx didn't answer Hermione's question and only just shrugged.
She knew nothing of Viktor Krum or his motivations. But if she recalled what François had been doing last time. She could take an educated guess and say that maybe Krum was looking to study for the upcoming First Task too.
Unfortunately, the Triwizard Tournament and Harry and Ron's feud weren't Nyx's top priority. Instead, Nyx knew she had to focus on controlling this new bloodline power she'd discovered. She'd been spending the past weeks acting as if everything was fine, and trying not to experience any intense emotions ... but she kept feeling this lingering dread whenever she emoted anything! Thankfully, these days, Nyx also had her "lessons" with Professor Moody. In which it seemed as though he took pleasure in knocking her around the room any chance he could get.
One a particular afternoon, Nyx had been hit with a pretty powerful Reductor Curse right into her chest. Instead of blasting her to pieces, Nyx's hereditary "mutation" protected her — alternatively, she had been sent flying across the room, and knocked into some desks before hitting the solid ground.
