"Now the moment you've all been waiting for" Dumbledore began. It was Thursday evening and dinner had just ended. The competitors would be chosen tonight. "The champion selection!"
All around the room the lights dimmed out, all that illuminated it was the blue flame from the goblet. Dumbledore approached it, lifting his hand towards the flame. It suddenly glowed red and spit a piece of parchment out of the flame. Dumbledore caught it before slowly opening it. Casey gripped Astrid's hand anxiously as Astrid scrunched her nose.
"The Durmstrang champion is Viktor Krum!"
People cheered loudly around the room, especially Ron. He walked down to Dumbledore, shaking his hand before being directed to the area beside the goblet. Dumbledore repeated his actions from earlier, another paper flying into his hands.
"The champion for the Beauxbatons is Fleur Delacour" he announced, everyone clapped again as she approached the spot beside Viktor.
Casey gripped Astrid's hand tighter as the last piece of parchment flew into Dumbledore's grip. Astrid closed her eyes, her nose scrunching becoming more evident by the second.
"The Hogwarts champion is" Dumbledore began as Astrid gripped her friends hand even tighter. "Astrid Stellar!"
Her eyes shot open as everyone erupted into cheers. Casey hugged her before the girl approached Dumbledore. He smiled brightly to her, shaking her hand and patting her shoulder. She joined the Champions beside the goblet, a proud smirk on her lips. She met George's gaze and he let out a loud cheer after it had gotten silent again. Everyone laughed as he winked at the blushing girl.
"Excellent" Dumbledore exclaimed. "We now have our three champions, but only one will go down in history. Only one will hoist this chalice of champions, this vessel of victory. The Triwizard cup!"
He turned to it, the cloth that covered it flying off and showing the shining the cup. Suddenly the blue flame from the goblet began glowing again, a piece of paper shooting out. Dumbledore caught it, a concerned look written across his face before he looked down and read it. Everyone looked to him in confusion before Dumbledore looked up and his eyes wondered around the room.
"Harry Potter?" he stuttered out. Astrid's eyes fell on the spectacled boy who looked around just as confused as everyone else. "Harry Potter!"
She saw Hermione pushing the boy towards the headmaster. He slowly made his way up to the headmaster who tentatively motioned for the boy to join the others. He approached the group and Astrid flashed him a small smile. He nervously turned to the staring students. Astrid patted his shoulder and he nodded to the girl who was just as confused as him.
"He's a cheat" someone yelled.
"He's not even 17 yet" another called out. Astrid shot icy glares towards the boys who were yelling these things and the room fell silent.
