"Good morning children" the teens heard from behind them, each of them turning their heads to see their new Professor with a smile on her face. Astrid huffed quickly as George rolled his eyes from the table beside her.

"Ordinary Wizarding Level Examinations, more commonly known as owls" the woman spoke as she pointed her wand to the chalkboard, the words appearing on it. Astrid thought that was exactly how her voice sounded, like nails on the chalkboard. The pink lady continued her way towards the front of the class.

"Study hard and you will be rewarded, fail to do so and the consequences may be severe."

Books suddenly floated towards the students tables, a book landing in front of each student with a thud.

"Your previous instruction in this subject has been disturbingly uneven. But you will be pleased to know that from now on you will be following a carefully structured, ministry approved course of defensive magic."

Astrid flipped through the book, no spells were even in the book. Nothing with actual magic.

"Yes?" The lady questioned as Fred raised his hand.

"There's no spells in here?" He questioned in confusion as the Professor laughed.

"Using spells?" She questioned with another laugh. "I don't understand why you students think you would need to use spells in my classroom

"We're not gonna use magic?" George chimed in.

"You'll be learning about defensive spells in a secure, risk free way."

"What's the point of that?" Astrid suddenly spoke. "If we are attacked it won't be 'risk free' we need to know how to protect ourselves."

"Student will raise their hands when they speak in my class" the woman snapped back. Astrid gripped this side of the table in annoyance, George noticing quickly. "It is the view of the ministry that a theoretical knowledge will be sufficient to get you through exams, after all that's what school is all about."

"How is theory supposed to prepare us for what's out there?" Astrid snapped in return.

"There is nothing out there dear" the woman replied, making Astrid grip the table even harder. "Who do you think out there would attack children like yourself?"

"Are you being serious? I'm not sure, pretty sure his name is Lord Voldemort" Astrid said quickly, glaring at the teacher as Casey placed her hand on the girls shoulder. Everyone went silent, their heads dropping as they glanced uneasily at Astrid. George frowned, catching the girls eye and sending her a soft nod. She relaxed slightly but it didn't last as the Professor began to speak again.
