Beyond the horizon, the sun illuminated the shimmering haze of pollution. The city was quiet and the only sound that filled people's ears was the gust of the wind that stayed at a slow and steady rhythm. This was rare for such a loud and busy city but when it was quiet it brought peace to many. This was New York City. The usual fussing on the streets, crowds of people rushing to work, cars honking at one another, it all faded for just a moment.

A small girl sat at the top of a building, up on the rooftop as she admired the city that she loved so much. She watched as the sun started to fade into the night sky. This was her happy place. Watching families sit down together and watch a movie, couples freely dancing in the kitchen as they cooked their last meal for the night, and seeing the stars steal the night. That was her favorite thing to do. Of course she wasn't stalking the people but it was visible to her point of view since an apartment complex was right next to the fairly big penthouse she lived in. Seeing families spend time together secretly shattered her heart while it made her feel happy. She wanted that with her own mother and sister, Elle. However, since her mothers choice of career had practically stolen her away from her children, the girl barely saw her mom. She was alone most of the time, with the exception of her mothers make up artist checking in on her, and also the girls aunt and grandparents. But that wasn't enough, it wasn't enough to fill the burning desire she had to spend some time with her mom. That's all she wanted.

Sarah. That was her name, the name her mother had given her, simply because of the meaning behind the popular name. The name Sarah meant princess, lady, noblewoman, happy, and joy. All the things Sarah's mother had hoped and wished for her daughter to be. Of course her mother didn't want her daughter to be an actual princess, but Sarah was in fact her little princess.

Sarah was only 17 but she knew a lot, she had matured at a young age due to the fact that her mother obviously wasn't around much and her father, well, he was no where in sight. He wasn't even in the family picture for that matter, Sarah always dreamt of him possibly being in her life but she never dared to believe that he would. Although, the small girl was almost like a reflection of her mom when her mother was younger. Sarah was always quiet, she didn't speak her mind even if the words were at the tip of her tongue. She dealt with a lot of anxiety as well. The thought of talking to new people made the poor girl sick. She hated socializing with anyone, it made it hard for her to have friends for this reason. Yes, she had a small friend group but she selfishly wished she had more. Well, she felt it was selfish to wish for more than she already had in her interesting life.

Stefani was the name of Sarah and Elle's mother. She was mostly referred to as Lady Gaga but neither one of the girls liked calling her that. They simply called her mom just like any other child would. Elle had a rocky relationship with her mother because she practically raised herself growing up, as did Sarah. Elle couldn't tell if she was angry with her mom or she was just upset that she wasn't there for her. Elle was now 18. She was in her last year of high school, though her focus in life was her modeling career. She dreamt of being a model ever since she was little and was determined to pursue the dream that she hadn't let go of. Obviously her last name was enough to get her places but her simply beauty could take her any where she'd like. Every one found her breathtaking. She was an outgoing girl, she didn't care about what people thought. Peoples unwanted opinions were the least of Elle's concern. She stole the spotlight. Sarah was always left behind to hide in the corner, although she didn't mind being left in the dust she sometimes wished she could be as confident as Elle and show people her talent.

Stefani was proud of her two girls, their differences were what made her love her daughters more. She loved them for different reasons but wouldn't be able to choose which one she cared for more, she loved both girls the same. Stefani actually found it scary how much she loved them.
