12:50 am
The house was quiet, only the quietest sounds could be heard. Every small sound echoed, it's was peacefully silent.
Well, it was silent until the front door quietly opened, creaking quite loudly. 'Shut up.' The girl muttered under her breath as she attempted to walk in the house without waking up her family. The girl slowly entered the entry way, stumbling as she walked past the door. 'Ugh. This day can't get any worse can it?' The girl mumbled to herself. She felt quite dizzy as she tried to find her to the stairs in the pitch black dark. 'Ouch!' She yelped as she knocked right in to the kitchen counter. The teenager stopped in her tracks as she heard someone coming down the stairs, turning on the kitchen light. "Elle?" Asked a familiar voice. Elle immediately shielded her eyes, "Bruh, can't you see that it's night time. What do you need to turn the light on for??" The girl scoffed. Elle's eyes focused on who was in front of her, "Mom?" Her eyes widened. Stefani crossed her arms, wearing a disapproving expression on her face. "Hey girl, how are you?" Elle slurred. Stefani raised her eye brow, "Elle Vera Marie Germenotta, what the actual hell are you doing at 12:00 am?!" Stefani scolded. Elle cringed as her mother spit out her full name, "You know I hate when you use my full name." Elle sassed, ignoring Stefani's question. The blonde scoffed, "I am your mother and I will refer to you by your name. Now, don't play dumb, where the hell were you?!" Stefani whisper-shouted. The teenager rolled her eyes, "At a party. What the hell is your problem? I'm aloud to be with my friends." She defended. Stefani's blood began to boil, she was slowly losing patience when it came to Elle. "You damn well know you are supposed to be home at 11:30 on school days and you are not aloud to go to parties if you are irresponsibly drinking." Stefani spat. Elle chuckled, "Who cares? You probably could've fixed me a long time ago, the only problem was you were to busy with your damn career. So don't tell me what I can and cannot do. Especially when you don't know anything." Elle spat back. "You sure as hell like to use that as an excuse don't you?" Stefani gritted her teeth. Elle slammed her hand on the counter top, "No actually, I don't! I just don't want you to be around anymore, I was better off alone." Elle responded with clear anger in her voice. Stefani's eyes widened, did Elle mean what she said? "Give me your phone." Stefani demanded. Elle looked at her in disbelief, "What? No." She declined. Stefani didn't give up, "Elle, I said give me your phone. I'm not asking you, I'm telling you." She sternly said. Elle shook her head, "And I said no." She confidently said. "Your grounded. You can kiss goodbye your modeling career for a long time, you aren't going anywhere but school, you aren't hanging out with your friends, and you sure as hell aren't going to parties." Stefani threatened. Elle approached her mother, "Go to hell." She whispered before walking upstairs and slamming her door once she reached her bedroom. Stefani's eyes widened in shock, she felt a deep pit of hurt in her stomach. Ouch. Tears streamed down her face as she tried to register everything that happened. Go to hell. Those words kept replaying over and over. Her own daughter said that to her. Her own blood. Stefani felt a pair of arms wrap around her but she couldn't move, she felt her body paralyze. "She doesn't mean that." A voice said from behind her. Stefani turned to see Sarah sadly smiling, "It's okay, shes said that to me before and she apologized right after. Just give her some space, she needs it." Sarah assured. The young girl pulled her mother into a hug, Stefani instantly wrapped her hand around her daughter, practically falling into Sarah. The girl rubbed her hand up and down her mothers back, trying to calm her. "She hates me." Stefani croaked out. Sarah stopped her, "No. don't say that, she loves you very much. She's just upset, she's also drunk, she doesn't know what she's saying." Replied Sarah. Stefani shook her head, "I made her hate me." She blamed herself. Sarah sighed in defeat, "You really didn't do anything. Sure, you weren't there for her a lot and to an extant she has every right to be upset but she shouldn't have told you something like that. Especially when your trying to be here for her now." Sarah told her mother. "It also may not just be you. It may be someone or some people at school. She was so happy about you staying in New York and suddenly when she returned from school she acted that way. Don't blame yourself for everything, you shouldn't make everything she says or does your fault." Sarah truthfully said. Stefani looked at her daughter, she tucked a stand of the Sarah's brown hair behind her ear and smiled sadly. "I'm not really sure what I'd do if didn't have you." She spoke with tears still streaming down her face. Sarah laughed, "I'm not sure either." Sarah took Stefani's hand, turned off the kitchen light and walked towards that stairs. "C'mon you and Elle are both burned out. I'm pretty sure you both just need sleep." Sarah said as she walked up the stairs with Stefani behind her. Both girls walked into Stefani's bedroom, Sarah made sure that Stefani was okay before attempting to walk back to her room but she was stopped when a hand grabbed her wrist. "Wait." Said Stefani. Sarah turned with a look of confusion, "What is it?" She asked. Stefani pat the bed space behind her, "Can you stay with me?" The woman asked. Sarah smiled, "Of course." She got into her next to her mother, Stefani wrapped her arms around the small teenager, kissing the top of her head before shutting her eyes and drifting off to sleep. "I love you mom." Sarah whispered as her mother fell into a deep slumber.
