It had been a day since Sarah had been rushed to the hospital. The doctor had issued a form to send Sarah home, allowing the girl to fully rest and recover. The teenager had found some sources of happiness over the last day. She giggled, smiled, and made jokes. But there were moments at night where she forgot how to feel. She thought about how if Addie were still in this world, she would've stuck by Sarah's side until she was allowed to go home. Thinking about it brought Sarah to tears. In movies there was often a sudden loss included, and the one line that was always spoken by the person who mourned was, "I would do anything to see them one more time." Of course not many people understood how much pain that sentence brought but Sarah finally understood how those people felt. She finally understood every emotion those characters were going through, the only difference was that this wasn't a movie, this was reality. Her reality. Sarah would give anything to see Addie one more time. To hear her laugh, see her smile, and hug her tightly. Sarah stood up, she looked out the window of the hospital room, admiring the beautiful city. Addison had become a silhouette, as if she walked from a photograph and left behind blackness. There is an ache that comes and goes, always returning in quiet moments, tugging at Sarah's heart. Sarah missed the girl with a pain that sat in her guts like so much fire burning slow. She could never fathom why God would give her someone so good only to snatch them away. She felt as if she was stuck on this chapter of her life and couldn't turn the page.
For the page simply wouldn't turn.
"Ready to go baby?" Stefani asked as she came up behind her wrapping her arms around her daughter. "Yeah." Sarah simply said. "What's got you upset darling?" Asked the worried mother. Sarah faked a smile, as she did many times before, "Nothing. Just tired." She excused. Stefani nodded, "I bet. Hospitals aren't fun to sleep in." Sarah chuckled in response, "They really aren't." She agreed. "Hey babies, you ready to go?" Ariana said as she entered the room. Both girls nodded their heads, making their way out of the room. Stefani held her daughters hand tightly. Ariana walked in front as they walked to the entrance of the hospital. Stefani paused before walking out the door, "Wait." Ariana and Sarah both looked at the woman with pure confusion. Stefani took off the black shades she wore and placed it in Sarahs hands. Along with that, she took off her playing white hoodie, handing it to her daughter so she could cover herself. Sarah knew what Stefani's gestures meant once she saw all of the paparazzi outside. She quickly put on the items, placing the hoodie of her mother's jacket over her head and the black shades over her eyes. Stefani protectively wrapped her arm around the girls torso. Of course there were security guards to assure that all 3 women would be safe but Stefani didn't bother risking it. She took a shape breath before walking outside, placing her other arm around Sarah's head, hiding the girls face. Sarah leaned into her mother as she walked outside. She couldn't make out what people were shouting but she was aware of the screams and cries. Every thing was muffled due to the fact that Stefani arm was around her face. Though it wasn't blocking her vision. Stefani grew anxious as people began to spit questions that she had no interest in answering. Ariana wrapped her arm around Stefani, not wanting to get separated, which only caused the screams to get louder as every one began to speculate the rumors about the couple. Sarah's body trembled as she saw more people crowding around them. "It's okay baby, I've got you." Her mother assured. Though Sarah couldn't hear exactly what the woman was saying she was sure it was only words of comfort. "Please don't touch my daughter." Stefani warned as paparazzi got closer, trying to get a hold of Sarah. A man that held a large camera placed his hand on Sarah shoulder causing the girl to freak out from the sudden contact, "I asked you not to touch her, do yourself a favor and don't touch other people's children." Stefani spat. Security guards wasted no time pulling the man away from the group of women. Another man had tugged on Sarah's hoodie. Stefani's blood began to boil. Without thinking she let go of Sarah and approached the guy. Sarah began to panic as she saw no one to cling on too. Her social anxiety was beginning to eat at her. Ariana saw the panic on the teenagers face, she immediately pulled the girl into her. "Hey babe, it's okay. Breathe." Ariana soothed. She held Sarah the way Stefani did. Ari searched the crowd looking for her girlfriend when her eyes suddenly. landed on the blonde. Stefani had began screaming at people with pure outrage. Lecturing them about touching her daughter and not giving her the space she should've been given. Body guards tried to pull the girl away from them but there was no luck. "Stefani!" Ariana yelled, hoping to catch the females attention. Stefani looked back, searching for the voice that called her. Ariana pointed at Sarah, signaling for her to come back so that they could leave the crowded mess. Stefani huffed before walking back over to the two girls. Sarah remained in Ariana's arms, though her mother had gripped one of her hands. The door too a black limo was opened once they approached the car. Sarah had a face of confusion as she knew her mother only used a limo when she attended important events. Without asking questions Sarah entered the car first, following Ariana and then Stefani. The blonde immediately grabbed Sarah, pulling the girl onto her lap. Sarah complied, resting her head on her mothers shoulder. Stefani immediately gushed the girl with apologies, "I'm sorry baby, I'm so sorry that I left you there." She repeated, running her fingers through Sarah's silk brown hair. Sarah shook her head in response, "It's okay mama, I'm okay." She assured. Ariana sat next to Stefani, rubbing the girls back in attempt to comfort the blonde. "Shes okay babe. I grabbed her almost immediately." Ariana responded to Stefani's apologies. Though Stefani was to far gone in her head. Guilt was washing over her. "No, I left her. I shouldn't have. I was just so angry that people were touching her when I warned them not too." Stefani said. Sarah took her head off of her mother's shoulder, looking up at her. "You were just being protective mama. It's okay." She answered. Stefani sighed in defeat, she kissed Sarah's nose in response. The teenager yawned as she rested her head back on Stefani's shoulder. "Are you tired?" Her mother asked. Sarah nodded, her eyes began close. "Good night baby." Stefani whispered, though Sarah was already drifting, to drowsy to hear.
