The Adventures of Parenthood with Catra and Adora (and Finn!)

So Close Yet So Far

Catra frowned at the TV before looking down at herself. She was now 8 months pregnant with her baby and Adora was on the couch, leg crossed, reading a book. "Adora I can't do it! I'm too fat.." Adora looked up from her book with a hum, "Oh! Your pregnancy workout videos? Hun, Spinnerella told you to take it easy. We don't want you stressing the baby and such!" Adora fretted as she stood up, dog earring the page before walking over to Catra. The baby bump had grown quite a lot and made certain things difficult for Catra, such as laying on her side and bending down. Adora lowered her head to press a kiss to Catra's forehead, "I've been thinking." Catra snorted, "Wow how surprising." Adora just rolled her eyes with a playful scoff, "I think I should get a job. To..you know, support our family?" Catra looked up with wide eyes, "Are you sure about this?" Catra asked as she ran her hands up and down Adora's muscular arms. Adora's hands wandered down to her wife's waist, "Yeah I'm sure." Catra's tail found its way around the ankle of Adora as they pressed their noses together. "It'll be weird not having you around.." Catra trailed off as Adora pressed loving kisses to her forehead. A sigh slipped from Adora's lips, "I know, but I found this job in Thaymor." Catra's eyes widened in shock and pulled away from Adora slightly. "That's awhile from BrightMoon!" Adora titled her head back with a guilty smile, "I know but we can buy our own house when I get enough money!" Adora said as she gestured to their room, Catra just sighed. "I have to go for an interview soon okay?" Catra nodded and pressed her head against Adora's chest. She closed her eyes as she listened to the strong heartbeat of her wife, "Can we cuddle? Before you go, please?" Catra asked as she nuzzled closer which made Adora chuckle before picking her up and carrying over to the bed. Catra purred and relaxed as Adora pulled up the covers. "I thought I said cuddle, not nap."  Catra joked but was hushed by her own purrs when Adora stroked behind her ear.
     Adora kissed Catra on the cheek before quietly exiting the room. She mounted SwiftWind and he took off to Thaymor. "So..a job huh?" SwiftWind asked as his wings flapped powerfully, Adora didn't answer since they were nearing Thaymor. Adora could see the sun slowly rising on the horizon as SwiftWind began to fly lower and lower until his hooves hit the ground and began to trot. Adora dismounted SwiftWind and signed into an inn to sleep until people were up and about. SwiftWind decided to fly back to BrightMoon.
Catra shifted in bed uncomfortably. She tiredly felt around for her wife and sighed when she realized that her wife left to get an interview for her job. She yawned and shuffled over to Adora's side of the bed before pausing. Catra stretched before dashing over to their wardrobe and pulled out of of Adora's jackets and put it on, purrs beginning to rumble deep in her chest at the familiar smell of her wife. She then dashed back to the bed and laid her head down on Adora's pillow. She pulled the covers up and began to knead the mattress as her purrs grew louder as she began to doze off, her hand resting on her stomach.
Closing the door with a tired yawn she looked to see Catra in a deep sleep on their bed, on her side. Smiling she walked over and kissed her temple gently before shucking off her clothes and climbing in bed and spooning her. She smiled when she heard the gentle purrs return and Adora decided she couldn't be more content in this moment.
Adora awoke to light beaming at her through the blinds. She shifted and was trapped between Catra and the mattress. Adora decided to lay there and think about their childhoods together and when Adora fell in love with her.

"Ah I'm bleeding!" Catra screeched and proceeded to flail her hand around before Adora gently grabbed her wrist and clicked her tongue between the gap in her teeth. "No you're not Catra! Now come on where's that thing you wanted to show me? Our new secret hide out?" Catra perked up and began to walk forward as she waved Adora to come on. They used old corridors and they finally got to the hideout that Catra kept talking about. "I know it's a little dusty and hasn't been cleaned out yet but this could totally be our new hideout!" Catra said as she walked forward to the middle of the room before turning on her heel. Adora just smiled and followed her in, hearing the door click shut behind them.
     "You insolent child, how dare you threaten Adora's reputation like that!?" Shadow Weaver was looming over the small feline child with her dark magic surrounding her but quickly backed off when Adora threw herself in between them defensively. "It wasn't her fault!" She bravely spoke and turned her head as Shadow Weaver lightly scolded her. Catra looked up with scared dilated pupils but her pupils narrowed some as she looked up at her best friend. They left the room after Shadow Weaver got one of her wine headaches.

Adora shook her head of the bad memory before closing her eyes and thinking about the first time Adora realized she loved Catra.

Love was weird. Adora had a crush on Catra ever since they were tweens but it didn't go away. Hordak and Shadow Weaver would say "Love is something the mind made up to make yourselves feel better about being lonely." Adora didn't know much about this emotion but she kept it secret that she began to realize that she loved Catra in their middle teenage years.

It happened at the rooftop when Catra found a new hideout after Shadow Weaver caught them the first time. "It'll be me and you running things. Not Hordak, not Shadow Weaver." Catra spat out her name in disgust before her features softened as she looked at Adora. Adora noticed her pupils dilated. "Just you and me, forever." Adora felt her heart began to thump harshly in her chest, "F-forever?" Adora questioned and Catra chuckled before walking over to sit down next to the blonde and throw her arm around her shoulder. "Yep," she said popping the ''p'. "Forever."

Adora looked at her sleeping wife with all the love she could find in the world. "Forever." Adora whispered as her hand found the baby bump. So close yet so far little baby..
