A large DarkWing flew in front of the army, face-to-face with Foliage, Daybreak, and Paradise. She had a golden necklace around her neck and sinister indigo eyes. "Let me guess. You've had a pleasant escape so far?" She laughed coldly. "We've arranged that for you. Let you get this far so we could catch the three of you together. I assure you that your easy escape is over." She flicked her tail backward to address the massive army of DarkWings. "My name is Midnight." She turned to look at Daybreak. "How fascinating to learn about your lack of Glyrite magic. It reminds me of a story."
She shifted into a regal, queen-like position. "I know of this story because I am the kingdom's resident expert on Axen abilities. When a DarkWing possesses Axen, they are able to shift their appearance in order to look like a member of a different tribe. Allow me to demonstrate." Grinning wryly at Foliage, she closed her eyes. Her scales began to shift from black to brown, her wings flattened, and her talons shortened into sharp points. She had taken on the full appearance of a WoodWing.
Changing back into a DarkWing, she continued to speak. "Once upon a time, there was a young DarkWing dragonet, not even a year old, who also possessed Axen. One day, a RainbowWing broke into the DarkWing caves using a magical tunnel she had dug with Glyrite." Foliage gasped as Midnight continued her story. "The RainbowWing ran into the dragonet while sneaking through the caves. Delighted by this strange dragon's multicolored scales, the DarkWing dragonet unintentionally changed her appearance to mimic her. Amazed, the RainbowWing brought the dragonet with her, claiming to be her older sister. In time, the dragonet forgot how to change her scales and continued to live as a RainbowWing. A RainbowWing with one fundamental difference: no Glyrite."
Midnight stared Daybreak in the eyes. "I have come to remind that DarkWing which tribe she truly belongs to."
