"I'm concerned about the prophecy," Downpour said to the queen of the MistWings.

He stared up at Queen Monsoon, who was sitting regally in her glittering white throne. "We can't win the war if it's going to just end. It's pointless. If the war is going to end anyway..."

"The prophecy is not a concern," snapped the queen. "I know a secret about it. And as for the war ending," she continued, adjusting her sliver crown, "that is not a concern either, thanks to this." She pulled a sapphire out of the center of her crown, holding it up to the beam of sunlight that poured out of the window. "I will keep it right here on my crown until we completely control the WoodWings, and then we will destroy it. Their entire tribe will be in my control."

"I know, Your Majesty," Downpour sighed. "You've told me about it before. But-"

"Go back to your duties, Downpour," Monsoon commanded. "And for moons' sake, stop asking about the war so much!"

Downpour reluctantly walked out of the throne room. Think again, Monsoon, he thought, envisioning the sapphire. The war will end. I will make sure of it.
