General Amber of the WoodWings hated the prophecy. She found it threatening to Queen Pine, and much too vague to be believable. Foliage, being her son, felt obliged to hate it as well. "There's only one way I want this war to end, and that's in victory for our tribe!" the general often announced, usually before leading her tribe into yet another raid or battle. This was the only part that Foliage didn't agree with, though he would never admit this to his mother. He didn't see anything wrong with the tribes living in peace. Quite frankly, no one in the tribe seemed to remember exactly why they were fighting, though they were all too determined to win. However, it was the "new ruler" part of the prophecy that bothered him. Foliage was loyal to no one except Amber, Queen Pine, and his father, Twig.
It had been a notably hot day, and Foliage was just starting to notice the dark clouds gathering outside his window. "That's odd," Twig murmured, his nose buried in a scroll. "It's been cloudless all morning..." Suddenly, Amber bolted out of the house, frantically searching the sky and barking orders to the confused WoodWings roaming the village. The MistWings caused this storm, Foliage realized. They're going to attack our village!
Suddenly, as if summoned by Foliage's thoughts, the MistWings descended from over Autumn Hill, some pausing to absorb the rain's energy, others poised and ready to attack. Foliage dashed outside, where he saw Amber frantically attempting to organize the confused WoodWing soldiers. When she saw him, her expression shifted into panic. "Foliage!" she yelled. "Run! Get away from the Forest Kingdom, as far away as you can!" Before Foliage could respond, the heavy rain and MistWing army choked out his view of his mother, and he knew that she was right. He had no choice but to try to escape.
He flew as fast as he could, flying low to save his energy. Just when he thought he was a safe distance away from the village, his head slammed against something hard, and everything went dark.
