A year passed and the two holt siblings were lost in a set of woods. The two blade members meant to protect them and take them to the planned safe spot was killed just hours after they left Iverson and Antok by the water fall.

An ambush was placed in the only back path that lead to the Altea kingdom, A general known as Sendak attacked with his men and even injured the twins after killing the two blade members who tried their best in protecting the twins.

Matt and Katie would have been killed by Sendak if the general didn't make a single mistake, he never checked the children for a weapon. Holding Katie in the hair by her neck while Matt laid on the ground holding his cute left cheek that would surely scar by the sword slash.

Katie was scared and tears filled her eyes but she wasn't going to give up, she had always been stubborn and after seeing Sendak eyes fill with joy as he killed the two blade members her rage grew. A fire in her eyes lighting up as she stabbed over and over in his arm until he wobble back in pain dropping her.

She ran over to her brother, taking his free hand and pulled him along, running with her little legs before Matt took the lead since his sister was rather slow due to her little legs.

Out running soldiers was impossible but it only grew worse as they reached a cliff, a river at the bottom but at the height of the cliff they clearly wouldn't survive the fall not at their age.

So, when Sendak had his men corner them off, he was given orders to keep the children alive since Zarkon needed to drain the soul of the next in line but only one child would be the future king or queen and most agreed it would be most likely Matthew. Meaning, Katie didn't need to live anymore.

But Matthew was an overprotective big brother and wasn't going to let them take away his sister life. So, as Sendak grabbed Katie once again in his uninjured arm, tighten his grip on her throat as her legs weakly kicked while she gasped for air. Matt ran over, sprinkling a small powder he had hidden in his pocket, the powder stolen from his mother office and he knew it was fast acting poison. His sister wasn't the only sneaky member of the family who knew how to use her brain.

Hearing Sendak roar of anger as he swung his injured arm once the powder was blown into his fresh wounds, smacking Matt away and forgetting the boy was only seven. Katie froze as her brother flew of the edge of the cliff, his screams filling her eyes before she jabbed her fingers into Sendak right eye, tears falling from her own eyes before she was dropped and a yelp of pain leaving her lips before she ran to the edge of the cliff jumping without thinking in hopes to help her brother some way. Maybe the gods would pity her enough to take her life and let her brother live.

The both somehow lived, a scar formed on Matt left cheek while a hidden scar was on Katie left thigh from Haxus arrow, he was Sendak right hand man and shot her thigh when the ambush started. Sure, she screamed out in pain but the pain left her as she and her brother needed to escape.

They lived by themselves, just wondering and stealing food to eat. They washed up by a small town after falling from the cliff and an old man took them in. Giving them his grandchildren old clothes and taking good care of them but he died in the winter from old age it seems. They took some extra clothes, packing some food and filling the water bottle along with the small amount of money he had laying around before leaving.
