Different Path (Naruto AU)

Chapter 5

Hinata had her Byakugan activated. She was scanning every inch and stone of the village. Shino scattered his bugs out everywhere in the village, ignoring the squeals of females running away from them. Kiba and Akamaru sniffed out the village, looking for any traces. Kurenai questioned shopkeepers. They all shook their heads giving her no lead on Naruto.

Neji scanned the walls around the village. There was no sign of damage meaning they must have come over it, under it or through the gates.  Lee and Gai ran multiple laps around the territory. There wasn't any damage to the forest meaning, Naruto had either been knocked, willingly or was forced to with them or...left on his own accord.

Ino just sat on a log and grumbled to Choji about how Naruto probably went missing to get attention.

Kakashi fumbled with the ring of keys that the Hokage had given him. There was a key to all the rented houses own by the leaf. The third Hokage had them built after the nine-tail attack as many children were orphaned after that...incident.

Once he found the right one, he inserted it and turned it until a small click was heard. The four entered the house. They were immediately hit with the smell of ramen and blood.

They took their shoes off and say the state of the house. There were empty ramen cups everywhere,  drawers were slightly open, the furniture was chipped and the bed was a mess. Upon further examination, with the help of Kakashi's inhuman sense of smell, they discovered tha the source of the smell of blood was actually hidden by rugs. 

They removed them all and to their shock, the entire ground was nearly coverd in blood splatters. They were mainly in his room. 

"They are old and...it is Naruto's blood," Kakashi said with shadows covering his eyes.

Sakura entered the bathroom and backed out immeaditely with a hand over her mouth.

The white sink and the bath were sstained red. There was a kunai coated in dried up blood on the sink. Shikamaru opened the vanity and saw a supply of bandages. He opened the bin and saw old ones, covered in blood.

Sasuke was paler thatn he is normaly.

Shikamaru looked at them all. The atmosphere was tense.

"I think I know what is happening... Naruto is a victim of self harm. He never looks happy. We should have figured this out sooner. He wasn't attacked. Well, he was abused verballly and physically buy the villges, hence the bood everywhere else in his house."

Shikamaru led them to Naruto's room. He opened the nightstand draw and frowed at the discovery. He pulled out another blood kunai for everyone to see and placed in on top of the nightstand.

Sasuke had shadows covering his eyes as he clenced his fists.
