The irregular –almost irritating– banging sound made it's way forcefully inside my peaceful slumber. Annoyed, I groaned and stirred. The shuffling movement I made resulted in activation of the discomfort I had been in for God knows how long. My muscles contracted and my bones felt like they had been hit by a bat multiple times. I moaned in pain, trying to grasp the situation. The banging never stopped but was now accompanied by my doorbell ringing. Whose death is so eagerly waiting for me? I somehow managed to get on my feet but my vision was immediately welcomed by dark spots. I felt like the world spun for a second. My right hand suddenly took the support of the wall behind me and the left one held my head. Despite my unstable vision, I made my way towards the door in hopes of getting some help.
"Coming." My throat felt like daggers, my voice barely above a whisper. I opened the door and surprisingly it was not locked. Was I hallucinating that time or this time?
Of course, no. The person almost breaking the door right now must have unlocked it from the outside. My eyes landed on two giant guys with dead serious faces, dressed in black– what looked like security uniforms. Events from earlier started hitting me. Suga must have sent them to fetch me, his stupid 24 hours must be ended, now my life is going to end s–
"–Mama!" The voice my ears were dying to hear, broke the chain of my stupid thoughts. I looked down to see Minjoon standing happier than ever.
I suddenly got on my knees and hugged him. I didn't care if I looked like a dead body or my hug was a bit too tight. I just needed to feel the warmth that brings light in my life. Tears of content flowing down my cheeks. I retreated and examined his face which was, to my surprise, opposite of what I thought- he was grinning ear to ear. Not sad or scared.
"You okay Minjoon? Are you hurt anywhere?" He was just nodding and shaking his head in response, denying to break the grin that stood proudly on his face. Still, I started checking his body with my hands, as if I could sense even a small scratch from above his clothes.
"Where were you?" The grin on his face stopped me from asking where did they take you? I couldn't make him sense the situation I was in.
"So many places." He looked like he was dying to tell me the details. Like, it would take him just one question to spill everything out.
"Did you miss mommy?" I seriously have no idea why I said this but I just did.
"No." He said shamelessly. I laughed loudly. This is what Minjoon does to me. He is so powerful, he can change my mood in an instant. He can make anyone forget their worries.
I saw a figure standing at the end of the hallway admiring our mother-son reunion scene but honestly, I cared less about anyone watching us, that guy can even film us and post it as a meme, I simply do not give a damn. The giant guys walked past us and placed something by the wall. I peeked to see a dozen shopping bags. What the–
I walked inside with Minjoon before the guys walked out without any word or gesture. I closed the door, checking it multiple times before turning towards Minjoon who was digging inside the bags, emptying the contents on the floor.
"Baby, not on the floor." He didn't even respond or lookup. He was focused on finding something. His eyes glinted and I knew he found what he was looking for. Unlike Suga, Minjoon was so easy to predict. Maybe because he is a kid. I sat down beside him. Without a word, he displayed the thing he was so happy to get. A pack of 100 markers.
"Isn't it huge!" He exclaimed, making sure to bring my attention to 'huge'.
"Who bought you all of these?" I asked the most obvious question.
"Suga." He said, trying to find another huge item.
"Uncle," I added, trying to read his expressions.
