(Y/N)'s pov"Finally, lunchtime!" I said as I ran out of class. I wasn't excited only for the food but because I got to have some time alone to myself.
I was making my way down the hallway walking fast, faces passed then I bumped into something hard. The impact had knocked me down. I sat there rubbing my forehead.
"God damn" I moaned in pain."Oh! I'm so sorry (Y/N)!" exclaimed a friendly voice. I looked up and saw a very tall Oikawa standing above me. With his defined chin and muscular build, he held out a hand, I took it feeling very embarrassed for some reason.
Maybe it was the way he looked down on me, it made me feel...giddy inside. If looks could kill he probably would have murdered me a long time ago.
"I'm really sorry but I have to go!" he rushed.
"Where are you going in such a hurry anyway?" I asked him.
"Heather wants to meet up with me!" He sounded so optimistic when he said it...Makes me jealous.
"Oh ok, then I'll see you then..." I said shyly.
He took off once again and I walked in the same direction deciding to take the long way to lunch.
🏐🏐🏐By the time I turned the corner he went around, he had disappeared.
"Dang it" I whispered to myself.
'Welp so much for being nosy'I continued down the hall to the cafeteria but I heard mumbling coming from the janitor's closet.
I carefully put my ear to the door to hear what was going on...Oikawa's pov 👑
"...I'm just saying that you need to show me a little more attention. It's always volleyball this volleyball that..."My girlfriend rambled on and on."...and even on the weekends you always claim you're too busy to hang out with me. And when you do you're always bringing along your whiny ass nephew-"
"Ay don't come for Takeru, he has absolutely nothing to do with this," I told Heather.
Heather and I have been dating for at least a year now, I really like her and I wanna make it work but lately, she's been more needy than usual.
But then again I have been neglecting her ever since that match with Kurasuno, practice match or not, they shouldn't of beat us."Look Oikawa, I just wanna spend more time with my boyfriend," she said softly.
"I wanna spend time with you to bu-"
"So it's settled then!" she interrupted.
"Promise me you'll spend more time with me."
I looked at her bright blue eyes thinking about what I should say.If I want to make things work with her, I guess I'll have to put her before my volleyball.
"Ok, I'll spend more time with you than volleyball," I said.
"You promise?" she asked so innocently.
"I promise...." I said dryly.
She cupped my cheeks in both hands and planted a kiss on my lips." Let's go eat, they added a new vegetarian option on the menu!" Heather said.
We walked out of the closet and I immediately saw (Y/N) walking down the hall she was almost running.
"(Y/N)!!!" I yelled after her.
She froze and stood there. By the time she decided to turn around to face us, we had already caught up to her.
She looked like she saw a rat run across the hall or something.
"H-H-Heyyy, What are you guys doing here?" she said weirdly."We were about to go to lunch, wanna come with?" asked Heather.
At first, she looked like she was gonna say no but then she glanced down and her whole mood changed all of a sudden.
"Um sure I don't care," she said shyly.
I looked down to where she glanced and all I saw was my hand intertwined with Heathers.
I shrugged off my theory.I guess a cockroach or something ran past our feet.
🏐🏐🏐We went to the student council table to eat when I wanted to go sit with my team but... I promised, didn't I?
Not even 10 minutes had passed and Iwaizumi came over to our table.
"Hey, Iwa-Chan!" I smiled.
"So the team and I decided to go get some practice in before lunch ended, you coming?"At first, I was gonna say 'Of course I am' but then I remembered the promise I made to Heather. I looked at her and she was glancing at me with icy blue eyes, her bright ones long gone. I took a deep breath.
"I would bu- "
"I'VE HAD IT WITH YOU OIKAWA" screamed Heather. The whole cafeteria fell silent."Babe, what are you talking about? Chill out everyone is staring." I tried to whisper. But with as quiet as the cafeteria was, a single pen drop across the room could be heard.
"IM TALKING ABOUT YOU AND VOLLEYBALL! You were gonna choose it over me, I already knew! I don't even know why I bothered with you if I'm being honest. The only reason I put up with you for this long is because of your looks."
Gasps were heard throughout the room.
"What?" I said in disbelief.
"What do you mean what? Do I need to spell it out for you?!" she snarred.I looked at her, speechless.
'The hell did I do?' I thought confused."Oh, I guess I do. You don't understand the type of luck you have to be with me, I'm an amazing person and I've always loved you for you but you've got to make a choice right here and right now," she said sternly, never breaking eye contact with me.
" It's me or volleyball."
"You quit volleyball right here and right now or we're breaking up."
"The f**k you mean you or volleyball?" said (Y/N) bluntly.
Everyone looked at her."Did I say that out loud? I am so sorry oh my gosh...just pretend I never said that" she said. Everyone was still staring at her in total awe of what she had said. "Go ahead continue," she said awkwardly.
" It's obvious you love volleyball more than me so I'll choose for you," Heather spoke dryly. "I guess this is goodbye."
Heather walked out of the cafeteria with her shoes clacking in the silence.
As she left everyone started gossiping about what happened.I thought once the silence had left, so would this pain in my chest. It feels like something is missing all of a sudden, and it's hard to breathe. I thought it was just the awkwardness of the situation. So I paid it no mind.
After school, I went to practice but the whole team told me to sit out for the day because I couldn't get my sets right for some reason. So I went home early, confused about the pain that was still sitting in my chest.
'Is this heartburn or something?'to be continued...
