CHAPTER 17
Vanya drives into the driveway leading to Sissy's farm. My mouth hangs open as I watch a snowstorm swirl above the barn, electricity shooting out everywhere.
"You think whatever's going on inside is causing the cold front?" Diego questions getting out of the car once parked. I follow after him slamming the door.
"Well, the correlation is high." 5 states. I look up at it thanking myself for putting my hair up into a ponytail.
"Sissy! Sissy!" Vanya yells running up to her. My eyes widen at the sight of her holding a gun.
"Get back." Damn, she's a bad bitch now. "All of you, just get the hell back!"
"Sissy!" Vanya yells as I put my hands up in surrender. "Hey! Hey! What's wrong?"
"Carl." I roll my eyes pulling my hands down.
"What did he do to you?"
"He's... He's dead." I let out a laugh before covering my mouth in a matter of seconds. All siblings look at me with anger and amusement.
"I am so sorry." I mutter, "Horrid man."
'"Harlan tossed him aside like a rag doll, the same way you sent those policemen flyin'. What did you do to him?"
"No--" Vanya begins.
"What the hell did you do to my son."
"I don't think we have time for this." Diego states walking forward.
"Where you think you're going, mister?"
"To help your son." I walk up beside Diego giving Sissy a reassuring smile.
"Look, Sissy, I found my whole family." I nod as she begins to relax. "These are my brothers and my sister, Kathryn you've already met." Diego gives me a look as I ignoring him.
"We're here to help." I state calmly.
"Ma'am." I breathe out annoyed at Luther's contribution.
"Were you lyin' to me the whole time?"
"Of course not. Look, I didn't know who I was. But I do now. And we are not the monsters that they say we are. We did not kill the president. We are not terrorists. We're not here to hurt anyone."
"Then..." Sissy pants, "Who are you?"
"The only one who can help Harlan." Sissy nods before Vanya runs up to her I follow after her as the rest follow along suit. "HARLAN?" Vanya screams as she runs into the barn. A whirlwind of energy flies around inside the barn as I enter with caution.
