Shanni was overjoyed to see her cousin's face, "Cousin you have no idea... the things that happened after your wedding... I'm babbling, aren't I? I'm so happy to see you!" She shouted.
Zevran's ears perked. "A wedding? So there is a secretive side to you, after all."
"I was betrothed. It didn't end well." Tabris replied reluctantly.
"No? You left him at the altar, didnt you?" He smirked.
"He died." There was a remorseful silence which she decided to banish with sarcasm. "There were rapists. And we got the wrong cake. Disastrous!"
"At least we can be sure you looked stunning for the occasion." The elf smiled.
"I'll tell you later."

She sat before the fire. It was excruciatingly early in the morning. The moon was out and as exhausted as she was, sleep would not take to her. The ring on her left hand was given to her by Nelaros, her betrothed. They had barely known each other, but she liked him. Their connection only grew after his death, much to her dismay. She remembered it fondly, always at the back of her mind. He had saved her life.
"That ring, the one you constantly fiddle with, where did it come from?" Asked the Antivan.
"You should be sleeping." She whispered.
"As should you, however, I won't tell if you won't. You promised to inform me of that wedding of yours."
"I suppose I did. Nelaros gave it to me, he was my betrothed."
"I see, you two were in love?" He asked.
"No, I barely knew him. He was fairly handsome though." She chuckled.
"Very few are so lucky as to catch your eye. I will take your word for it."
She smiled, still staring down at her hands in which the ring lied. "Sodding humans. They stormed in and took a few of us, the brides and my cousin."
"And I assume you slaughtered them all?"
"I told them to take me and leave the rest, but they wouldn't have it. So yes, I had to kill them. But it wasn't so sudden. I was the only one left, the others were dragged off. They were about to... well. Nelaros and Soris snuck inside and stopped them."
"A good man, I certainly wish I could've helped dispose of them." He rubbed her back in an attempt to comfort her.
She responded by leaning her head on his shoulder. "We subdued the guards and took their armor, but to no avail. So, we were forced to fight our way through. We found Shianni, but they had already gotten to her."
"She was very pleasant company." He whispered.
"They nearly killed me. Nelaros sacrificed himself for me. We barely knew each other and he just... threw his life away. Not many people would do that."
"An honorable man indeed. However, my warden, I can think of many willing to make such a sacrifice for you. I myself would be honored, Mi Amore."
"Please don't." Her eyes filled with tears, good tears. The kind that showed how deeply rooted her love for him was.
"Keep safe, and I won't need to." He kissed her. Much to her surprise, he swiftly hooked an arm beneath her knees, and cradled her head with the other. She was picked up and he spun her around, while her beautiful hair flowed down, her giggles sounded to him as bright as the fire, and he gently tossed her into his tent.
