Sacara's pov
I walked up to the bullet proof glass the thing that I came here to see. It was on display but it was planned to send it to the preservation room after my break but me and a few other people looked at it. I smiled as the few people talked about it but I loved thinking of the history behind it and since I was on my break I liked looking at it but my break ends in about ten minutes."The Declaration of Independence" I mumble to myself as I started mentally reading it. I smiled as I remember I've been aiming for that promotion to get into the preservation so that I could help future generations have this history of our past...the thing that helped us gain our independence.
"Hey Sacara you ok you just kind of zoned out?" I heard one of my colleagues ask so I turn around and nod not really in the mood for talking to anyone unless needed but they didn't leave right away so they must want me for another reason.
"Alright well boss wants to see you in his office says it's important...maybe it's that promotion" the female worker tells me I sigh and nod once again and left going into the elevator down the hall and push the button to go up to his floor, while the elevator moves up, I mentally pray that it's the promotion so that I could get away from the brats on my floor. After a little bit of just standing there the elevator doors finally open and I walk over to the secretary desk at the end of the hall.
"Ah Sacara he's waiting for you just knock on the door, wait for him to say come in, and enter" the secretary tells me so I nod, walk over to his office door, knock, and after getting a 'come in' from the person inside I walked in and shut the door behind me. I looked around his office always was kind of blank but it normally has a warm atmosphere but now it has a cold kind of atmosphere with a hint of dread.
"Ah Sacara nice to see you please sit down we have something we need to discuss" he starts, pointing to the chair, so I sit in the chair in front of him and his desk. He had a sad look on his face which was odd as he normally had a happy look on his face.
"You called for me sir?" I ask, still hoping for that promotion, and he nods slowly like he was unsure. He also slides a piece of paper in front of me I look down at it and looked at it confused why would I need a letter of recommendation? Do I need it for the preservation room?
"I have to unfortunately fire you today" he says quickly I freeze shocked...but he sounds like he doesn't want to but then again I am one of the only people here that actually do my job instead of use it to get stuff. So why would I need to be fired?
"HR got complaints about you not doing your work and even though I believe, and know, that you are doing your job I still have to fire you or else they'll fire me with someone who will fire you" he mumbles. I nod, understanding his situation, and walk out as I walked towards the elevator anger rushes through my veins as I start thinking about things I do my work all the time! Who reported that I didn't and why? Did they want the promotion or did they just not like me? I head into the elevator and push the button to go down to where our offices are. Once the elevator makes it to the bottom I walk out and look around the floor I walk over to my desk and grab a box that was underneath my desk, cause I wanted it there so that I could easily pack up if I got the promotion, and start packing up.
"Sacara did you get your promotion? Cause if so we'll miss you on this floor" Someone asked while I was packing my stuff I huff at the thought.
"No I got fired for something that wasn't true" I said flatly as I continued to pack up my belongings but what shocked my a little bit was the gasp that everyone gave...guess I was liked here I mean everyone liked working with me but I thought it was cause I was the only one who would do projects?
"Good I mean it's about time your fired. I mean you never did anything in this place all you did was stare at an old piece of paper for minutes on end can't remember the amount of times I caught you up there" one of the spoiled brats, who only got here cause of their dad who always gives them what they want their whole lives, says as I finished packing up my things.
"Bye I guess maybe one of you will get the promotion" I whisper as I walked to the elevator slowly not really wanting to leave some of them waved sadly while others just gave me a sad smile.
"Bye" everyone, but the spoiled brat and her friends, said sadly. The brats said it happily as if me leaving would solve everything though I wasn't lying I hope the promotion goes to someone else who deserves it like Greg or Jim. I wave back to everyone as the elevator doors shut I push a button and after the elevator closes it starts moving. I close my eyes and sigh in annoyance and look at my box of things.
'Only looking at a piece of paper? No I actually did my work unlike those bitches' I thought as I walked out of the elevator when it stopped. I waved bye to the security team and left from the front door.
