'The story of my life, I take her home. I drive all night to keep her warm and time is frozen. The story of my life I give her hope, spend her love until she's broke inside. The story of my life.'

Charli x Addison

Addison's POV

I pushed open the gate doors, walking out of the party and making my way down the street.

It was winter, so it got dark outside much quicker. The street lights cast a dim glow on the icy, L.A. streets.

My oversized coat hung loosely on my body while I walked, looking frantically for my car.

Sounds from the party I had just left echoed in my ear as I pulled out my phone to check the time.

10:24 PM

I wasn't supposed to leave this early, but things never go the way you want.

I finally located my car and was about to step off the sidewalk when I heard a quiet, "help" and whimpers.

The alley next to me was pitch black and I couldn't make out a thing.

I followed the sound, using the flashlight on my phone to lead the way.

I wasn't at all prepared for what I saw.

A small girl sat on the ground on top of a flattened cardboard box, a thin jacket draped over her shoulders, a hole filled hat on her head.

"Are you ok?" I asked quietly, kneeling down in front of her.

"I don't know."

"You must be freezing, come on, I'm taking you to my house." She looked up at me with an unreadable expression.

"Here, take my hand."

I jumped a little when her thin, cold hand came in contact with mine.

I helped her off the ground and lead her to my car.

She slowly climbed in, letting out a sigh of relief as she sat down a softer surface.

"What were you doing out there by yourself?"

"I-i'm homeless." She whispered, turning to look out of the window.

I cranked up the car, waiting a minute before turning the heat on full blast.

"How old are you?"

"16."

"Only 16?! What about your parents?" She squirmed a little in her seat.

"Sorry, I didn't mean to overstep. You don't have to tell me."

"No, it's ok. My parents kicked me out." I gasped, placing my free hand on hers.

"That's horrible, I'm so sorry."

"It's fine."

"Why did they kick you out, if you don't mind me asking." She gave me the same look from before.

"Because I'm gay."

"That's ridiculous! Who disowns their own child because of their sexuality? You're definitely staying with me."

She smiled, laying her head against the door and taking off her hat.

I watched as her deep, brown hair fell and swept over her face. She moved it out of her eyes, staring back at me.

"What's your name?"

"Charli."

"That's cute, mine is Addison." She blushed a bit, making a perfect contrast between her snow white skin.

"Aren't you going to drive?" Charli asked, looking down at our hands that were still intertwined.

I nodded, reluctantly taking my eyes off of her and pulling out of the parking space.

We drove in silence, throwing the occasional glance at each other.

I felt full all of a sudden, like I had been missing something all my life, and I finally had it.

The way her soft hand fit in mine made a smile spread across my face, a content one.

I've never met this girl in my life, and yet, I feel closer to her than anyone I know.

This just felt right, we felt right.

I pulled into my driveway, coming to a stop and looking over at Charli.

She was fast asleep, a moonlight glow illuminating her face.

I didn't want to wake her up, so I walked around to her side and lifted her out of the car.

She immediately snuggled into my chest, still asleep.

I walked onto the porch, unlocking the door and entering my house.

I went straight up to my bedroom, placing Charli on my couch.

"Char, wake up." She opened her eyes, smiling once she saw that it was me.

I smiled back, going to my closet to find some clothes that might fit her.

"What are you doing Addie?"

"Getting you something to wear so you can take a shower?"

"Really? I thought this was just a place to sleep for the night." I looked back at her, staring straight into her eyes.

"Hmm, I don't know, kinda feels like more."
