Salutations fellow bokoblins. So the last chapter was a heavy hitter huh? It is not the first and most certainly won't be the last.
Lucius POV
Sorrow fills everyone's hearts. We not only lost the life of the captain but a dear friend as well. I can't believe that Forlan and Brodsky were father and son. The crewmate begins moving the passengers back to the upper decks. Those injured are in the infirmary. The guards go and help move those who have passed to be prepared for their caskets. Lisomah, Brodsky, and I go to Forlan's quarters to adhere to his last words. Brodsky shows sadness as he carries his father's axe, while Lisomah shows anger. I can understand both of their emotions. Lisomah wanted to keep others from dying to the Alliances' blades. Brodsky just lost his own father in from of his very eyes. We still have a day until we reach the Imperial shorelines. My thoughts are broken from Lisomah.
Lisomah. "Why? Why did all of these innocent people die for nothing? What did we ever do to those heartless killers?"
Lucius: "They probably wanted to show off how powerful they were and how weak the Empire is. If we didn't stop them, they probably would have killed everyone on board and sink the ship. Or they could have been after someone. It is hard to tell."
Brodsky: "Like my father?"
Lucius: "Possibly. He is well known throughout the Empire."
Lisomah: "How are you so knowledgable and perceptive of these things?"
Lucius: "I gain a lot of information through Tralar. Since I was the son of the most skilled healer in my home town, others had jealousy towards me. They would bully me over my weird quirks or beat me up. I just became more perceptive over my surroundings over time."
Brodsky: "So your childhood wasn't all sunshine and rainbows?"
Lucius: "Not many people's are. Sure mine was bad, but it was nothing compared to Lisomah's."
Brodsky: "What was yours like?"
Lisomah: "Remire."
Brodsky: "Oh. I take it you don't want to talk about it?"
Lisomah: "Not really no."
Brodsky: "I got you."
Lucius: "Sorry for mentioning it."
Lisomah: "No, it's ok. You did not mean anything harmful by it."
The rest of the walk was quiet. People we passed by were either sad or scared. I don't blame them. I would be too if I was in their position. We eventually get to Forlan's quarters. We walk it towards the desk.
Brodsky: "Here is the switch."
He pulls it. The sound of a mechanism echos as a panel is lifted.
Lisomah: "Quite interesting."
Lucius: "Indeed it is. Did you know about this Brodsky?"
Brodsky: "Yes I did. I knew I was his private room so I did not enter."
Lisomah: "Understandable."
We walk through the passage and down a few steps into a small room. A small table is in the middle with a chair. A chest sits in the back. Small candles fill the room. On the desk sits 4 envelopes and a piece of paper. Lisomah picks up the paper and reads it aloud.
Lisomah:
"Greetings Lucius, Lisomah, and Brodsky.
If you are reading this then what I thought would happen has, unfortunately, come true. On the table sits 4 letters. One for each of you and one for Lucius' brother, Tralar. Lucius may deliver it personally to him when he sees him. As for your letters, you may read them whenever you wish. I wish you luck on the rest of your voyage.
Sincerely, Captain Forlon."
Brodsky: "So he left us with some letters?"
Lucius: "Apparently so."
Lisomah: "Would you guys like to read them out loud or keep them to ourselves?"
Brodsky: "We could read it out loud."
Lucius: "I'm fine with that."
Lisomah: "Alright."
We each take our letters. I also take my brothers. I begin.
Lucius:
"Dear Lucius,
You are truly a kind-hearted, thoughtful, and vigorous young man. While you have no clear goal for your journey to Veridia, you strive to help others achieve theirs. Not many people can say they can do that truthfully. When you grow older, you will be just like your father. Soon you can learn to heal through both magic and vocals. May your friends and loved ones guide you down your path.
Sincerely,
Forlan"
Lisomah: "He is right about that. You have been helping me on my journey, and so willing to."
Brodsky: "It seems your entire family shares a big heart. A heart that can heal anyone's wounds."
Lucius: "I think you're right."
Lisomah opens her letter and reads it.
Lisomah:
"Dear Lisomah,
While I may not have known you long, you have been friendly all the same. I wish the best of luck as you strive to end this horrid war. I can tell you have the strength, will, and heart to succeed. May light lead you down the right path.
Sincerely,
Forlon"
Lucius: Wow. He really believes you can do it. One question remains. Do you think you can do it?"
Lisomah: "I don't just think, I know I can."
Brodsky: "That's the spirit."
Brodsky read his.
Brodsky:
"Dear son,
I know it will be tough to accept my death and move on. I know you can do it though. You have always been able to get through anything. No matter what it was. You also have Lisomah and Lucius, plus all of your other friends to help you along the way. It may be a bit sudden, but I believe you are fit enough to be the new captain of the Morning Star. Now go out there and make me proud. May your heart guide you on your way.
With Love,
Your father"
Lisomah: "So you think you can be the new captain?"
Brodsky: "I know I can. I'll carry on my father's legacy."
Lucius: "We will be rooting for you. Go out there and be the best captain you can be."
With that, we leave the room. We close up the passageway and head to the dining room. Brodsky goes to the stage. Lisomah and I stay in the audience section.
Brodsky: "Attention everyone."
The room goes quiet at everyone looks towards Brodsky.
Brodsky: "Due to the unfortunate event that occurred yesterday, Captain Forlon has passed away. As his son, I have now become the new captain. I know it will be tough to move on, but I know we can. He wishes us safe travels from here on out, and to never give up hope. From this day forth we will carry on his legacy. We will keep anyone who comes aboard safe. We will move forth towards a new and brighter future. We will live on to honor those who have passed. My friends Lisomah and Lucius will end this horrid war. We will stand strong and support them. And together we will win!"
Crewmates: "Yeeaahhh!"
Guards: "Woohoo!"
Brodsky: "Now let's get these citizens back home. All crewmates and guards, to your positions!"
