Winter

White and crisp across the land

with sparkles sprinkled like soft sand.

You can't get to me with glove on hand.

The air so crisp,

your smell so fresh,

you send tingles to my exposed flesh

and my warm breath,

with your chill,

enmesh.

As they meet a vapour creates.

Under your spell the world sedates

and through the winter,

spring now waits.

The hardened ground,

asleep for now...

Sweet birdsongs rise from a dormant bough.

Yet, still inside you create a WOW!

You still hold beauty in your sleep

and within my heart the love's still deep.

It's time for rest,

no need to weep.

I love you winter,

in your glory be.

You are a special time for me

as the previous year you set free.

With us,

as we wait anew.

Nearly always the stars are in view.

Where on earth would we be without you?

In mayhem perhaps,

of confused mind,

with definitions undefined.

To hibernate we are designed.

To muse what's been and to digest,

to free the mind and body rest,

to slow down,

sleep,

within a nest.

Ready to wake all fresh and new

when the world begins its next debut.

Until then I'll enjoy my time with you.

Snuggled up and wrapped in fleece

as the natural warmth begins to cease.

Winter,

you are my time of peace.
