Why I Write

It helps me to release my thoughts

and write my poetry.

I now have one in my hand so much

that it feels like an extension of me.

Black is my favoured colour.

It stands out more from the page.

Complementing each other

integrating every stage.

Once the flow is in full swing,

it matters not the length,

be it a ditty or a sonnet,

it's the words that hold the strength.

Sometimes I look through my scribbles

and I see the journey I've walked

and in amongst those mind thoughts

I can find a treasure I've chalked.

This can have a mad effect

as it is like my prophecy,

like I wrote it and left it in that place

until I find it again and see

that I knew where I was going.

I couldn't acknowledge it though

so it was like I planted it in a place

until the time I'd grow;

enough to then appreciate

the gift I've been endowed

and even though this can makes me gasp.

I really am quite proud.

It is a magical, beautiful way to record

my each and every stride.

I don't know where I would have ended up

without my writing as my guide.

My writing contains questions

and some answers too.

It can be a massive part

of everything I do.

It eases my confusion,

if I feel confused at all

and it also helps me fill the gaps

I can find difficult to recall.
