The Evans and Potters

"Anything from the trolley dears?", the familiar voice of the Trolley Lady asked.

Everyone shook their heads, except Lily, who was now making a puppy face at James.

In the morning James felt the need to let Lily sleep longer owing to the fact that she was working too hard and getting little sleep, as a result of which Lily had missed breakfast and rushed to the platform to board the train.

"Oh fine! We'll have a sandwich please" said James, as he paid for the sandwich.

He handed it to a grateful Lily, who devoured it within seconds.

"Well Lily flower seems to be eating no worse then a squid" commented Sirius, rolling on the floor of the compartment at his own joke.

Lily looked at James, questioningly, who let out a grin before wiping off the mustard on her nose with a tissue.

The next minute a swarm of canaries had flown at him, pecking at his flesh.

"Hey! stop these this instant. Prongs make your girl stop them " whined Sirius in between groans of pain.

"You should stop them Lily" suggested James, and Lily obeyed.

"Thank Merlin" sighed Sirius as he sat up in his spot.

An few hours later, she was shaking her boyfriend, who thought it wise to not sleep at night and sleep on her shoulder during the ride.

He rubbed his eyes sleepily as he bade his friends goodbye and looked at Lily.

"Ready?" she asked.

"Ready".

They apparated right on the Evan's doorstep.

"I'm home" greeted Lily as she took her's and James's coat and dropped them in the closet.

"Oh, you guys are here" exclaimed Mrs.Evans as she pulled both of them in to a tight hug.

"Hello Mrs.Evans" greeted James.

"Oh enough with the formalities come on in, you guys must be starving." greeted Mr.Evans, a huge smile plastered across his face.

"Honey show them in" he said looking at his wife.

"And Lily dear, I missed you" he said before pulling Lily into a warm embrace.

"I missed you too dad" she said hugging him back.

"This is James, my boyfriend" she introduced.

"Hello" he said, his hand waiting to be shook.

"Oh, bring it in you too" he said and before James could understand anything else, he was being hugged by his girlfriend's dad.

They walked in to the dining table to see Petunia sitting at the table, staring at her sister and her freak boyfriend.

"And you must be Petunia. Hi I'm James" said James, nervously.

"Hi! Freak" she mumbled under her breath, so that only Lily could hear her, but James had heard it too.

His smile was intact, he looked at Lily who was now turning red with anger.

"Babe" nudged James, knowing his girlfriends anger and not wanting to be caught up in family drama.

Dinner was quite pleasant with occasional laughter from Mr and Mrs Evans at one of James's jokes.

He seemed to have warmed up to them pretty quickly. He explained about the wizarding world, avoiding any topics that included dark magic.

There was that moment though, where Mr. Evans asked Lily if the Potter boy was still bugging her and Lily launched into a defensive mode, explaining to both her dad and her boyfriend trying her best to clear the air.

After dinner, Lily helped her her mum clean up, while James took a stroll around the neighbourhood with Mr.Evans.
