I breathe deeply as I step inside the train, trying to calm myself. My feet is slightly shaking, and my body is still weak because of my injury but I managed to walk near Priam. When he saw me, he immediately held my arms for support.
"Stay here. You're still not fully healed. I'll just call someone," he said. I just nodded as a response. I sat on the side of the train and hold the handle for support.
A few minutes later, I felt the train stop. I step out of the train and saw the sign near me.
Station 11. Van Zanth.
My eyes roam around the place that caused my forehead crease. I can't see anything but tall trees, bushes and on the other side of the rails are trees covering a rough road. The platform looks old and the rails looks rusty. I wonder how can this rusty rails handle the train.
Is this really the Van Zanth? It looks like an abandoned place.
A car stopped in front of me. An old man went out of the car. "The alpha is expecting your arrival."
"Thank you," Priam answered and immediately put our things on the compartment then opened the backseat for me. "I informed the alpha of this city that we're going. We'll be staying on their mansion for the mean time."
I just nodded and went inside the car.
The old man started the car and drove it away. I looked at the window. The car passed through a signage, and after that I can already see the houses and stores in the town. We also passed through a downtown. There were few people roaming around. But the place is too quiet and eerie. And at the back of my mind, I knew that something will change, sooner or later. But whatever could happen will happen. I still hope that everything will fall into place.
A big yet old looking house came into my view. The tall, black gate opened and the car entered the mansion. It stopped in front of the double door. Priam went out of the car and I followed him.
"Priam," a smooth, deep, almost husky voice came from the man in front of me. He's holding a little girl on his arms while a beautiful lady is following him, holding a little boy's hand.
"This is April. April, this is Zander, the alpha of this town, and that is his wife, Laura, and their twins, Zackary and Zanra," Priam introduces. Zander nodded at me in acknowledgement. While Laura and the little boy came to my side.
"Come here, Zanra. Your father will talk to our visitor." The little girl, Zanra, giggled and kissed his father's cheeks before going to her mother.
"April," Priam looks at me, asking for permission to follow Zander. And I just nodded.
"Priam informed us about the investigations." I look at Laura who's looking at her children. "I hope you can find a good lead here."
