Suicide in animals In 1845, the London newspaper 'Illustrated London News' featured strange news. The news was that a very beautiful dog in black gave life by jumping into the water. When he jumped into the water, he did not even try to kick his feet to swim, whereas dogs generally do that. When the dog was taken out of the water, he jumped again into the water and believed it by giving his life.
According to the newspapers of that period, this was not the first incident of an animal committing suicide. A few days later, two more such reports appeared. In one of which he was killed by a duck drowning himself. According to other news, a cat gave his life by hanging from a tree. The cat did this after the death of its children.
After all, how much truth is there in these reports? We know that animals are also victims of mental illness. We also know that, like humans, many animals also succumb to stress and depression. Human beings often commit suicide for these reasons. Many habits like humans have been found in other animals, but is suicide one of them? Do animals really kill themselves intentionally?
