Colbys' POV

I woke up with the love of my life in my arms. The best feeling in the world.

I wish I could freeze time and just stay like this for all of eternity, but I have work to do. I slowly got up, leaving the room carefully so that I didn't wake her up. Downstairs I grabbed a hoodie I had left on the couch and started making my way to the pack house, where my office is.

I haven't been there in quite some time, since the day we left for Salem. I've been slacking off a lot since I found April, Peter still complains just by leaving the room she is in, leaving her alone feels like a nightmare and he is sure that something bad is bound to happen. But anyways, fortunately I have Sam to take care of things  for me.

He and Brennen were already sat on the couch when I entered the room, together with Corey, who is the packs' best warrior, Xepher, who is the packs' adviser, and Ênis, my fathers' third in command, before Brennen.

Unlike the alpha and beta positions, the third in command is chosen by the alpha.

We all sat down on what the trap house likes to call 'the round office table', which is the table on my office where all of the important decisions are made, and started to discuss.

"As you all know, I'm too emotionally involved to decide alone Nadia's future, if it was for me, I'd have her die slowly and painfully. But I can't do that, so what are your opinions? What should we do?" I said, starting the meeting.
"She is being accused of breaking the duel rules and attacking the luna." Xepher started " According to our laws, her punishment should be for breaking the rules, 5 months of 'community service' which is helping the maids with all of their work, and the most severe one we have for attacking the luna, but you banished death as a punishment".

Regret filled me, how dumb could I be do take that off?

"I believe the second most appropriate would be kicking her off the pack, becoming a rogue." Ênis said " She might be one hell of a fighter, but her life was basically given to her, she won't know what to do, and will be completely lost." He added. I pondered over his words for a minute before agreeing, even if I don't think that is enough of a punishment.
"All in favor of Nadia being kicked out?" Everyone nodded. "Then that is decided. Next thing we need to speak off, how are the news of me finding my mate spreading?" I asked looking at Sam and Brennen.
"Quite a few packs already know. About 40 around the world have send you messages of congratulations." Brennen said.
"We've also sent invites to the alphas and lunas from the packs we have alliances with, for the luna ceremony the day after tomorrow." Sam added.

"Alright, thank you. Lastly, Corey, I want to increase the patrol and the training of our fighters." They all shared a concerned look.
"Sure, but can I ask why? Is there something wrong?"
"Not exactly..." I trailed off and they stared at me waiting for an explanation " Look, April had a dream with the moon Goddess about that prophecy" Their eyes widened "And she said that we could be in danger once the pack from the legend find out about us, about our fur." I finished with a sight.
"And you believe in it too?" Brennen asked skeptically, knowing how I usually don't believe in things like that.

"I don't know yet" I admitted "But I want to do everything possible to make her comfortable here in LA, a new place, a new life, that she is still figuring out."
"Then that is what we are gonna do." Xepher said "You know, maybe she should talk to the elder, see what he thinks." She suggested.
"That is what I was thinking . I think that after things are more settled, after the buzz die down, I'll take her."

The meeting kept going for a few more hours, taking care of some other things. That's when Kat called me through mind-link.

-Colby, where is April?- Kat asked.
- What do you mean? She's home sleeping.-
-No she isn't- That's is where I began to worry - I decided to go visit her with Tara and Devyn to see how she was doing but she's not here-
-Maybe she just didn't hear the door bell- I hoped.
- I took your spare key from under the fake rock, I'm inside your house and she is nowhere to be found. I tried calling her, but her phone was on the couch. The kitchen door is open, but she is not in the backyard-

Everyone in the room was staring at me, my heart was beating so fast i swear even Kat could heart all the way back at the house.

- I'm on my way there, get Kevin too, I want him tracking her scent immediately!- Kevin is our best tracker in the pack. I turned to everyone.

"April is missing, she isn't at the house and she isn't with her phone, the door to the backyard was open." I said already opening the door.

All of them jumped up and we all ran to my house, arriving at the same time as Kevin, Jake and Reggie, who were all together when Kat called. None of us spoke, and waisted to time, shifting and going into the woods behind the house.

After two minutes sniffing, Kevin got a scent and started to run towards it, with all 10 of us trailing right on his tail. But I think everyone froze like me when not even 5 minutes after we heard the sound of a loud whimper not far ahead. I sprang the fastest I could towards the sound.

I'm not in my house, I'm at my stepfathers' vacation house, and so I don't have my computer with me, so I typed this chapter by phone and my thumbs are cramping, I didn't know they could 😅. Next week I'll have it again, so I'm making it my goal to post the next chapter next Friday!
