Luka's POV
"I'm sorry but this isn't working anymore. We're done."
I'm shocked to hear those words come out of Mari's mouth. My unending joy shatters along with my heart as she walks away without a second glance. She goes missing for two months and when I see her again she tells me we're done. I can't believe it. I feel as if my hearts been ripped out of my chest and shredded into a million pieces. I felt this pain before, when Kate died. I'd hoped to never feel it again, but it's even worse than before.
Alya's POV
Luka told us he found Marinette and she broke up with him. That was a week ago. He hasn't left his apartment since. Every time I want to check on him something happens. And today is no different. I look over at the place Nino told me to meet him. He had said it was an emergency. After a few seconds he shows up. "I saw Marinette in there with some girl." He says, pointing into a restaurant. I look to where he's pointing. Marinette is sitting at a table with someone. I recognize the girl but I can't remember her name.
I think about approaching Marinette and decide not to. I turn to leave, Nino following me. It's time to check on Luka and make sure he's ok. I walk to his apartment and knock on the door. After a few minutes with no reply I knock again. When he still doesn't answer I pull out the key Marinette gave me and unlock the door. Walking in I notice Luka on the couch. His back is turned to us but I can tell he's asleep. The soft click of the door closing wakes him up.
Luka sits up and frowns. "What are you guys doing here?" He asks, his voice hoarse from crying. "We came to make sure your alright." I reply gently. He avoids my gaze and doesn't reply. "We saw Marinette today." I say after a few seconds. Luka's head snaps up. I can see the pain in his eyes. He glares at me and walks away, locking himself in his room. I stare at the door in dismay. "He does this every time I mention her." A small voice says behind me. I look back to see Tikki floating there, tears falling down her tiny face.
Marinette's POV
I wake up to see Lilith smiling in the doorway. "Morning sweetheart." She says happily. I return her smile and get out of bed. "I made some breakfast." She says as we walk to the kitchen. The smell of the food makes my mouth water. Every morning Lilith makes me breakfast before I get up. Her cooking is the best. I couldn't have asked for a better girlfriend. I look down at the steaming plate of food and dig in. With every bite I fall more and more in love, I can't imagine how life would be without her.
I look up at the night sky, my fingers intertwined with Lilith's. We walk towards the Eiffel Tower and I smile. "Have you ever been up here at night?" I ask excitedly. She shakes her head and I lead her up the elevator. "It's the most beautiful thing you'll ever see!" I say with a grin. "It can't be as beautiful as you." She replies with her own grin. My grin disappears as my head starts pounding. Images flash before my eyes. Luka and I walking, having the same conversation. I remember the way he made me feel.
Alya's POV
Nino and I had stayed at Luka's apartment last night. When I woke up I noticed the door to his room was ajar. I quietly walk over there and peek inside. The room is completely empty. I search the whole apartment, trying to find Luka. Nino wakes up and frowns. "What's wrong?" He asks with a yawn. "Luka's gone!" I exclaim, my voice rising with panic. Nino says something but I don't listen as I spot something. A small piece of paper is lying on the counter. I grab it and quickly read through it as Nino walks over.
Nino and Alya,
I realized that I was worrying you. So I decided to go out and take a walk around the city today, try and clear my head some. Sorry if I made you worry even more by not being here when you woke up. I should be back by tonight. If I'm not don't panic, I'll probably be at the Eiffel Tower. Again, I'm really sorry for making you guys worry so much.
After reading the note I let out a sigh of relief. I'm glad the note hadn't been what I thought it was. Luka needs this time to himself, so I won't bother him. But there is someone else I'm going to talk to. I walk to the door, Nino following me. After a few minutes of walking I make it to the park. I've seen Marintte walk here almost everyday but I never talked to her. Hopefully she'll come today and we can talk. What happened to her while she was missing? And who was she with yesterday? She'll tell me when I see her. At least that's what I'm hoping.
Nino and I sit in the park all day. When the sky starts to get dark we walk back to Luka's apartment. We go inside to find it's still empty. I frown as we leave and start heading to the Eiffel Tower. As we get close I spot two figures walking towards the stairs. "Shit." I mutter quietly. "What's wrong now?" Nino asks, irritated. "Luka's up there and that's where Marinette it going." I say as I walk faster. I watch as the elevator doors close and the two of them start ascending. I run to the stairs, knowing I won't make it in time.
Marinette's POV
As the elevator starts going my up my headache fades. "Are you ok?" Lilith asks, her face a mask of worry. I nod and smile to reassure her. It seems to convince her as we arrive at the top. I step out, walking towards my favorite spot. I stop when I see a figure standing there. Even in the darkness I recognize the silhouette of Luka. Lilith recognizes him as well. "Oh look, it's the goth boy." She says with a snicker. He doesn't turn around. "Fuck off." I hear him say. I look at Lilith and frown. "Lets go." I say quietly. Luka's head snaps up at my voice.
