I was walking into the wilderness of the forest where it was all misty and had covered itself with sinister fog. My subconscious mind told me that something was lurking in the dark. Ignoring it, my feet pulled me further into the woods. The moonlight got dimmed as I walked towards the dark. It was getting colder by the minute. "Merida dear" I heard the familiar voice again. I got freaked out when I heard the whisper, "Merida dear" near my ears. The alarmingly hot breath on my skin made me run forward. Suddenly my eyes spotted a piller of smoke coming from the direction I was running to. I made a halt when I saw people covered in black cloaks sitting around the fire under a moon shaped symbol and chanting something in another language.
"Merida stop!" I heard her calling again. I felt chills and shiver run all over my body. I made a quick mind plan of going towards her and pushing her with my powers and then I can finally escape this forest maze. But boy, I was totally wrong. I turned to my right only to meet her standing away from me for about five feet. I started walking towards her as my mind threw a million questions at me all at once. I stopped when we stood face to face and she held out her hand towards me. "Who are you?" I asked her again, my voice sounding weary, even though I knew the answer. "You cannot rum away from me dear" she said as she smiled awfully calm and replied, "I am your mother" with that her eyes turned white.
I woke up with sweat pouring down from my face, my hair wet and it stuck all over my face along with my neck too. "What the heck?" I said and turned to look at my clock only to sigh loudly. It read 3:15 am. "Wow! Just wow" I muttered. Despite being awake, I could still feel the fear I had encountered in my nightmare. Calming myself, I took my water bottle from my bedside table only to find it empty. I went down the stairs, cursing my name along with my bottle and barely lit screen from my phone. An eerie silence descended over the house. It felt unnatural, forced and quite strange. The floor creaked behind me and then I felt it. Something in the darkness was watching me. It was instinctual and I was so sure that something demonic was over there.
Every cell in my body screamed danger and to run, but to tell a different story, I was rooted to the spot. My brave mind didn't allow me to get scared and so she said, "Maybe it's Pip" I quickly ignored everything and neared the kitchen. After drinking the water and filling the bottle for later, I hurried up the stairs to get to my room with or without Pip. As soon as I closed the door, I whipped my head to sound from the T.V commercials. They started changing very quickly which was quite inhumanly, until it stopped abruptly, pausing only on the static. The light from the T.V casted shadows and it formed into some devilish creatures. I blinked once, only to find mere shadows.
I chuckled at them, mostly at me. I have an amazing prowess to scare myself in which I have an A+ and I was doing it right now. I quickly turned off the T.V and went straight to bed. I stilled again when I saw Pip sleeping peacefully in the corner of my bed. My heart threatened to fall from my chest as I felt my body going numb. I had a mini heart attack when the T.V went on, again. There was no way that was possible. The atmosphere around me quickly changed. Easing myself into a standing position, I turned back. I ran back to the T.V but to my horror the power went off. I welcomed the eerie silence again. I concentrated on hearing other sounds in order to keep me calm. Yet again, I heard the floor board creak behind me.
Instinctively, I turned towards it and searched for a face in the dark space behind my bed. The same feeling I had downstairs was back again which in turn made my skin crawl. The temperature dropped even lower than before making it freezing cold but here I was covered with sweat beads on my forehead. I strained to listen past my thudding heart and my eyes were fixed to that same spot. The floor creaked again but it was closer this time. Staring into those shadows, they teased me by coming back. On the count of three, I sprinted across my room, grabbed my cellphone and quickly dialed out a number, whom I trusted like my own, the one who shattered my trust into pieces. Yet, here I am, so naively calling back the person who I despise the most. When I decided to cut the call, she took up.
"Hello? ...... Merida, is that you?" I was shocked to hear her voice. I hate her the most and why the hell did I even call her. "You're getting those nightmares again, right?" She got me. "Crap!" I thought. "Hmm" I said. My eyes got welled up. "Why?" I asked her. "Why did you do that to me? To me, of all people! Is it because I was so dumb? Why me? You're the only one who I trusted but look where that had got me to! I lost myself when I lost you!" I sobbed in temper. "Please just let me explain, Merry. Please give me a chance, us a chance" she cried out. "Sorry, the old Merida is dead and is buried deep inside of me" with that I ended the call.
With a heavy heart, I turned the bedside light on, I was relieved to find it still work. "Maybe there had been a surge or blip in the power" my mind concluded. But I still couldn't explain why my hair on my back stood on the end and the uneasy feeling in the pit of my stomach as the uneven rhythm of my heart still indicated me to run somewhere safe. I tossed and turned yet it took a while for me to find my slumber, forgetting all about the imposter lurking behind my bed within the dark.------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
