You went to Cedric's funeral, but didn't listen to anything Dumbledore said. You just lay your head back, staring at the ceiling through the whole ceremony.
Hermonie and Ron sat with Harry and you sat in the back with Draco. Even after what happened, Harry still didn't talk to you. Especially after hearing what everyone was saying about you and Draco during the tournament.
You tried to keep your mind occupied, but the only thing that ran through your mind was that Voldemort was back. What did that mean about you and your mother? You hope that you didn't have to leave Hogwarts, but considering Cedric's death, Ilvermorny sounded better and better by the second.
You can't imagine what next year will be like without Cedric. He was the only one that you talked to in your house. No one else even bothers to talk to you.
When the funeral was over, you went to the boathouse. You sit there and look at the water for a while before putting your feet in. You lay back and let out a long sigh, tears following shortly after. You think about all your memories together and feel the bracelet that he gave you.
'You told me that you would win. And I didn't get the chance to tell you and me and Draco. I wanted to tell you, but you had to go into the tournament.' You start to cry harder and roll over onto your side, clenching your chest. 'I told you not to put your name in there. I knew something bad would happen and now you've left.'
You apparently fell asleep in the boathouse because you wake up in the Slytherin dorms. You can't focus your eyes. All you can see is blonde hair beside you.
'Draco?' You ask hoarsely.
He leaps up from the stool and hugs you.
'God (y/n)! Don't scare me like that!' He pulls away from you and sits on the bed next to you. You lift up your head and lay on his lap. 'I went looking for you but couldn't find you anywhere, then I thought of the boathouse. That's where I found you, asleep.'
You don't say anything and just stare at the floor.
'You want to stay here with me until schools over?' He strokes your hair and you start to feel peaceful.
You nod your head and fall asleep again.

It's time to go back home and you slowly pack your bags. It's been nine days since Cedric passed and it's still bothering you, but not like it was before. Draco has already left the dorms so you go to the great hall and sit with Hermonie.
'How are you?' She asks while grabbing your hand.
'Better.' You say while putting food on your plate.
You don't say anything to Ron or Harry and suddenly Harry speaks up.
'Voldemort remembers you.' Harry says while looking at you. 'He's not only coming after me, but you as well. If you want to be safe, you need to stay away from Malfoy. His father is a Death Eater, I saw him there. If you keep hanging around him, Voldemort is going to find you sooner than later.'
You don't say anything and you just look at him.
You let out a long sigh, and decide to speak back. 'I need to prepare myself. If he is back-'
'He is back.'
'Well.. since he is back, I need to practice my magic next year. Get better. My mom hasn't done magic in I don't know many years, I need to protect her when the time comes. Did he say he was specifically coming for me?'
'I'm sorry, he used the cruciatus on me until I spoke. I had to tell him that you were here. He didn't believe me until I said so. He looked at me and smiled afterwards, then said something's that I would rather not repeat. Malfoy's father also spoke about you, he-'
You give him a glare and leave the great hall. You can't believe that he told Voldemort about you! And how does Malfoy's father know you? You've never met him and Draco hasn't mentioned you to his family.
There are student's already lined up by the Hogwarts Express and you get on, finding an empty compartment. You decide to bring your cat in with you and she lays on your lap.
'I've missed you, Ella.' You say while petting her. 'I'm ready to go home, are you?' She meows and you let out a little laugh.
And hour later the train takes off. You're still alone in the compartment with your cat. You're happy to be alone. You look out the window and continue petting Ella when the door slides open.
'Can I sit for a bit?' Draco says while gesturing to the seat.
'Sure.' He sits down next to you and looks at your cat.
'I didn't know you had a cat.'
'Mhm, her names Ella.'
He reaches over to pet her, she's hesitant at first but then crawls onto his lap.
'I think she likes you.' You say laughing a little.
Draco lets out a sigh and looks at you. 'Do you think he really is back?' He finally asks.
'If so, then I am in deep shit and so are you.' You look at him but he acts like he didn't even hear you.
'I want you to write to me. We will use my owl since you don't have one. Okay?'
You nod your head. 'I love you.' He kisses the top of your head and leaves. Ella immediately jumps onto your lap before he stands. He leaves the compartment without giving you another look.
You arrive at King's Cross many hours later. You put your cat in her crate and grab your trolley.
You walk around the platform looking for your mom, but someone steps in front of you.
'I hope you do make a choice when the time comes, Gaunt. There's only sometime left before you finally meet him.' You look up at the man and see's that he looks like someone you know.
'Father.' You hear someone say from behind you.
You turn around to see Draco walking up to the man in front of you. He looks at you with confusion.
'I was just speaking with miss (l/n) here.' He gives you a glare and walks off with Draco. Draco doesn't even look back at you and disappears into the crowd.
You start to panic and you see your mom in the distance. You walk up to her and give her a hug.
'Oh, honey I'm so happy to see you. How was your year?'
She acts like nothing even happened. Like she told you nothing.
'Voldemort's back.' You tell her.
She gives you a smile and grabs your shoulders. 'I know and it's okay. I took care of things while you were away.'
You look at her in confusion. 'What do you mean?'
'Come, I'll tell you at home.'
You arrive home and put your things down and let Ella out of her cage. You walk into the kitchen and sit at the table with your mom.
'I knew he was coming back, that's why I told you when I did. I didn't think he was going to, but when I found out, I had to tell you the truth. Just know, I did the right thing. I fixed everything.'
You're confused. What did she fix? Then you remember Draco's dad.
'How did that man know me?' You ask while crossing your arms.
'Oh, Lucius Malfoy. Yes, they have been followers of the Dark Lord for a long time. I went to school with him and he was the one to help me fix everything.'
'Mom.' You can feel tears in your eyes. You have a feeling what she's about to say and you don't want it to be true.
'It was the only way to assure our safety. I had to do it.'
You get up from the table and start to back away from your mom. 'You didn't.'
'You have to do it too.'
You start to leave from the room but she grabs a hold of you. You break her grip and shake your head at her. 'Just say the words, mother.'
'When you become of age...' she takes a long pause and takes a deep breath, 'you have to become a Death Eater too.'
