Chapter 13

A few days after Xola had made her announcement to the other contestants they had all been told to go home and prepare for Xola to become a god. Lilith had decided that it needed to be a big party and Falos didn't argue with her so Xola was now stuck with a party that she didn't exactly want.

She was sitting on her bed when she heard a knock on the door, "Is it alright if I come in Xola", she recognized it was Falos and called back, "Yeah come on in".

He opened the door slowly and peeked around to make sure he wasn't intruding then came in fully and asked, "Why aren't you getting ready your party is in a few hours"

Xola looked at him and smiled thinly, "Lilith wanted to make me a dress for the night so I am waiting for her to finish".

As she said that Lilith walked in, "Well if you're going to talk about it then maybe I won't give it to you" she said jokingly as she handed her the dress.

Xola hopped up and ran to her bathroom to put it on and get their opinion on it. She walked out a few minutes later and Lilith was beaming, "I think I have outdone myself what do you think Falos?"

"I say you're right" he then pointed to the mirror so she could see what she looked like in it. The dress was silver with a black sash running across it from her left shoulder to her right hip and the entire thing went down to her ankles but there was a cut at the leg so she could still move freely and not have to hobble around constantly.

Lilith walked up behind her and said, "I think you are ready just wait in the hall for us to call you up we already have the egg and malcolm on the balcony waiting."

Xola walked out into the Hallway and Lilith and Falos overtook her to go out and give their speech. Falos walked out and began to speak similar to how he had to when they started looking for contestants, "Hello and thank you all for coming here yet again for an announcement" Xola couldn't help but smile at the fact that they were about to announce her godhood.

"We have gone through all of the contestants that we had hand chosen and come down the one we both believe will do nicely" , said Falos as he smiled an turned to Lilith.

She began, "Behind us we have a dragon, albeit a tiny one and the catalyst to infuse someone with godly power."

Lilith gestured to Xola to come forward and she did. "Xola is who we have chosen to be one of us" she said as everyone in the room gasped and began to cheer for her, she even saw her fellow contestants in the very front of the crowd clapping for her.

Lilith continued, "Now Xola please come and stand behind the pedestal and have Malcolm come and sit on the egg". She did as she was told and picked up Malcolm and sat him where she had asked. Falos looked out to the crowd, "You all might want to shield your eyes for this part", they all covered their eyes as told.

"Now place your hands on the egg and concentrate on the power inside." Xola nodded and began to focus and as she did she heard cracking and Malcolm began to yelp in surprise, a slight sharp pain rose through her body. She opened her eyes to see that the egg had begun to crack and energy was flowing out. She closed her eyes again and concentrated harder, the egg began to feel warm, hot even, and then it burst open and a flash of light and pure energy surrounded both dragon and master.

Xola could feel all of the power seeping into her body and it felt amazing.

When the flash finally dissipated after a few seconds Xola looked down to see everyone smiling at her and she didn't understand why. She was about to turn and ask Lilith or Falos if they knew when she bumped into a full grown dragon. It had gray and silver scales and its eyes were a piercing yellow. Xola could only stare in awe at how beautiful the dragon was. She reached out to touch it and to her surprise it quickly came to her and she finally understood why everyone but her was smiling, "Malcolm is that you?" she asked with a grin as the dragon sneered to assure her that it was him.

Just then Falos walked up, "Both of you have gone through a great change and you will be awkward with your new power for a while as will he so just look out for each other, but first I think everyone is waiting for you to speak to them". Xola turned and everyone was looking at her.

She quickly walked to the railing and began to speak, "I will do my best in protecting you all and being as open as possible with everyone, so please let's enjoy the rest of this great festivity and have some fun!"

Everyone began to cheer and holler her name and she couldn't help but smile. "Go on and talk with them they are bound to have questions", whispered Lilith.

Xola nodded and started to walk down the stairs but on the second to last stair she stumbled and began to fall. She quickly put her hands out to catch herself and immediately blew back upright. The only ones who had seemed to notice were her old competitors and her fellow gods, which she was thankful for. "Well it's good to know that's a thing".

After about an hour and a half of intermingling and answering questions Xola snaked her way out to Lilith's garden and sat down in the soft grass. "So is it all that it is cracked up to be"? Xola quickly turned to see that it was Atlas, "Yes, I suppose it is though if I have to answer anyone elses questions I might just explode", she stated as she began to laugh.

She gestured for Atlas to come and sit next to her and she did. As she walked next to her Xola was able to actually get a detailed look at what she was wearing.

It was an ember gold dress with gray tassels on the front and it went to just past her knees and her hair was back in a ponytail.

Atlas sat beside Xola and looked at her, "So do you know any of the new powers you have"? Xola shook her head,"No and neither do either of the other two they said I would figure them out on my own in time."

Atlas nodded and spoke again, "Well can you do that eye thing that they can"? Xola hadn't actually thought about it, "I can try but

I have no real clue as to how they do it".

Atlas raised her hands and put them to Xolas temples, "Try focusing some of your magic around here if you can".

Xola did just that but she didn't notice anything happening,"I dont think its working Atlas" Xola said.

Atlas was still staring at Xolas face and said, "No its working fine your eyes are glowing pure white though!".

"So you figured it out without our help I think you'll do just fine" both girls turned to see the gods standing there beaming brightly.

Xola focused her magic and "turned off" her eyes and smiled back,"I have a feeling you weren't going to tell me anyway Falos". They all began to laugh and the rest of the night was as perfect as could be.
