---------------------------------------------
On the night before Halloween, Zedaph was messing around with some plants within his cave of many contraptions. The variety of foliage littered his mountain like an major infestation.
The hermit stepped over some vines and stopped at three gigantic, orange pumpkins that towered over him. How these gargantuan gourds were able to prosper within the sheep hybrid's base is anyone's guess.
Zedaph watered the plants as his tail wiggled, " Ah, my amazing plants, I believe that tonight is the perfect night to carve you guys up for Halloween!" he grinned as his hooves clicked against the ground. The hermit wandered around the plants and looked between them.
There was a problem though. Zed didn't really know which vines connected to which pumpkin. On top of that, how was he going to move the pumpkins? They were nearly twice the size of him, and even though pumpkins are pretty hollow, some of the biggest ones could weigh a whole lot. These ones could specifically ruin someone's arms if they try to push it.
Fortunately for the good sheepy Zed, he had something called incredibly strong legs. The hermit tapped his hoof against the ground and raised his leg. Zedaph's ears twitched as he nodded his head,
" 3...."
The hermit kicked his hoof against the ground.
" 2......."
He raised his hoof.
" 1......"
POW!
With one swift kick, Zedaph slammed his cloven hoof into the rind. The center pumpkin was thrown out of its comfy dirt bed. Zed happily watched as the pumpkin rolled across the stone and settled down into the storage area.
" Okay... Now I can get to carving..." Zedaph smiled as he approached the gourd with his sword unsheathed. Now, the hermit could just use a knife; however, a pumpkin of this size would just simply snap the blade like a pathetic, little twig.
The hermit's tail was happily wagging as he trotted up to the pumpkin and took out a thing of scaffolding. With a little hop, Zedaph stood above the pumpkin. The sheep raised his blade and cut into the pumpkin with a satisfying thunk.
The sword carved into the pumpkin with ease. With each hole that was cut into the pumpkin, the more the large cave smelled of that fall aroma.
There was something odd though. The more that Zedaph cut through the pumpkin; The more he started to ignore his surroundings.
Meanwhile back on the gardening plot of the other two gourds, one of them was quaking rocking like egg about to hatch. The gourd's shaking grew more and more violent with each cut that Zedaph enacted with his sword.
Soon, blackened eyes, nose, and a gaping maw opened up in the front of the pumpkin. The eerie face of the monster lit up with a ferocious flame as it quaked and stood up with two legs made of of wood. A pair of vines wrapped around it as it stared at Zedaph and started to slowly walk towards Zedaph.
Somehow, Zedaph didn't hear this; he was far too enamored with happily carving into his Halloween treat. The pumpkin walked towards him and snaked its vine towards his fuzzy, yellow leg.
Zedaph hopped down from the scaffolding and sat down in front of the pumpkin in order to carve out the mouth.
The ghastly gourd let out a loud roar as it whipped its dual vines out and coiled around Zedaph's torso. The sheep let out a startled 'BEH' as he was thrown into the air and held. The hermit still held his sword and helplessly tried to chop at the vines until he managed to dig it into the vine.
" DIE!" Zedaph yelled in a panic as he continued to hit the vine, but unfortunately, it didn't budge. It seemed like the sheep hybrid had dulled his once great blade until it could only dig in and not cut or slice.
The pumpkin roared at Zed causing flaming seeds to come out with the rumble. Zed closed and opened his eyes and gasped as he blew out the fire that had formed on his arms. The sheep hermit looked over to where he left his communicator and looked at down at his sword.
There was only one thing he could do now. One thing to do in order to warn the others about this pumpkin problem. Zedaph raised his sword and aimed at the communicator. The hermit's ears twitched as he launched his sword at his communicator.
The sword jabbed into the communicator causing an ear splitting screech to emit from it. How the pumpkin was able to hear the alarm was anyone's guess. When it did hear the alarm, the monster's vines unwrapped around Zed's torso and dropped him towards its gapping, fiery maw.
Zedaph let out a scream that was higher than his communicator as he fell into the mouth of the beast and.....
SNAP!
The hermit's lights were snuffed out.
